New Movies On Demand: ‘Boss Baby: The Family Business,’ ‘Rebel Hearts,’ ‘Werewolves Within’ + More

As we head into the July 4th weekend, let’s take a moment to celebrate what makes America America: capitalism, freedom of expression, and a love of conspiracy theories and folklore. Our top selections for new movies on VOD this week celebrate all of those things. Let’s start with Boss Baby: The Family Business, in which Alec Baldwin’s boss baby, Ted, is now a grown man who wants to use the riches he has earned at a hedge fund to start a business that turns adults into babies for 48 hours. Classic capitalistic exploitation, Ted! Then we have Rebel Hearts, which is a story of defiant nuns (I love it already) who have protested everything from Vietnam War to the Catholic church itself. Over the decades, the women (and the priests and others within their order) have defied traditions and expectations to speak their minds and support progressive causes thanks to their First Amendment right to do so.

And finally, do werewolves and other mythical beasts really exist? In Werewolves Within, based on the video game of the same name, Sam Richardson plays a forest ranger who is trapped in a snowed-in town along with the rest of the town’s residents, including postal worker Cecily (Milana Vayntrub), and together they need to find out who (OR WHAT) is terrorizing and killing townspeople. The supporting cast is a who’s who of comedy ringers like Michaela Watkins, Sarah Burns, and Cheyenne Jackson, and despite being a horror film, it is also a pitch-perfect comedy in the vein of Shaun of the Dead with brilliant performances all around.

These are just a few of the titles that are available to watch on Amazon Prime Video, iTunes, YouTube, and through your cable service this week. Check out what movies are available to buy or rent on demand now!

The Boss Baby: Family Business

Who knew everyone would love this boss baby so much? In the Alec Baldwin-led sequel to 2017’s Boss Baby little bossy baby Ted is actually all grown up now, and he’s a hedge fund bro, just like you imagined a boss baby would be. Ted and his brother Tim (played by James Marsden) go into business together to create a formula that can turn adults into babies for 48 hours. In a stroke of casting genius, Amy Sedaris plays Tina, Tim’s infant daughter who is actually a secret agent.

Rebel Hearts

We love stories of women who take matters into their own hands and get s— done. Of course, when you’re a group of Catholic nuns, it’s that much more difficult when you’re up against the Patriarchy with a capital P. The nuns featured in Rebel Hearts were teachers at the Immaculate Heart College in Los Angeles who advocated for women’s education – not just their students but their own continuing education. On top of fighting for their own rights, they fought tirelessly for others, participating in civil rights protests like the March on Selma, to the Women’s March of 2018. All the while, the Cardinal who oversaw their diocese did whatever he could to keep them in their place.
