Netflix Axes 4 Comedy Series Including Kevin James’ ‘The Crew’

Netflix has decided to cancel four comedies including The Crew and Country Comfort after just one season each, Mr. Iglesias (after Part 3) and Bonding after only two seasons. The announcement came on Friday, just before the holiday weekend.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Netflix is not severing ties with The Crew‘s Kevin James as they just closed a development deal with the comedian to develop a new single-camera comedy series which he will also star in.

The streamer also has another project lined up with Mr. IglesiasGabriel Iglesias, which is the third in a series of his stand-up specials that is planned to be filmed this summer. Bonding creator Rightor Doyle also secured a new development deal with the platform.

The Upshaws, on the other hand, is one fairly new comedy series that will actually return for a second season.

According to Variety, Netflix also has a one-hour comedy-variety special executive produced by and starring Will Smith in the works as well as a yet-to-be-titled comedy series set in the Los Angeles Lakers’ front office from Mindy Kaling, Elaine Ko and Jeanie Buss.
