ESPN+ Subscription Price to Increase Starting Next Month

Disney will raise the monthly and annual price of ESPN+ in just one month. Beginning on August 13, the streamer will bump the subscription free to $6.99 a month and $69.99 a year, up from $5.99 a month and $59.99 a year. Prices for the UFC pay-per-view matches on the service remain unchanged, as will the price for getting a bundle for all of Disney’s U.S. streaming services, which also includes Disney+ and Hulu. That bundle will still cost $13.99 per month.

The company just raised the monthly subscription cost last year, bumping it from$4.99 to $5.99 for new ESPN+ subscribers.

The price hike also comes after ESPN introduced a pack of new sports rights deals that’ll introduce a bevy of new content to the company’s streaming outlet. A new deal with the National Hockey League is set to make 75 games available via ESPN+ exclusively, and another deal between ESPN and the all-England Lawn Tennis Club also earned the streamer rights to the iconic Wimbledon tournament. The Club is also making available other archival material such as films, classic matches, highlight shows, and press conferences. ESPN+ will also become a showcase for LaLiga soccer exclusively after August, as well as the PGA Tour Live beginning next season.

This new move certainly suggests that Disney is looking to push more customers to hop aboard the bundled option, gaining new subscribers to Disney+ and Hulu along with ESPN+ and pushing a wider variety of the company’s content into households across the country.

In April, Disney said that ESPN+ had around 13.8 million subscribers.
