‘Jackass’ Star Poopies Bit by Shark During Shark Week Stunt

When a new Jackass member tried his hand at the show’s infamous stunts during Discovery Channel’s Shark Week, he made a frighteningly memorable first impression. Sean McInerney, aka Poopies, was plunged into shark-infested waters as part of a stunt for Discovery’s summer series, but his daring act turned bloody fast when he was bitten by one of the animals circling below, ET Canada reports.

After a successful try at wakeboarding over the sharks’ home, the Jackass guys decided to take it up a notch, challenging Poopies to jump over the water off a ramp. The challenge proved a little too tricky though, and Poopies crashed into the water below when he couldn’t stick the landing. Right when he plunged in, a shark latched onto his arm, leaving him with injuries there and on his hand.

Thankfully, the Jackass crew had help close by. Poopies was quickly pulled from the water and onto the boat, where he was treated by a medical team. After his friend was injured, Jackass‘ Steve-O asked, “This was only one bite in one spot? And he’s not missing anything?” To his relief, Poopies’ injury was treatable, and the Jackass star escaped with everything intact.

“It’s a reminder that yeah, like, we are pushing it pretty hard. And this could happen, of course,” Jackass star Chris Pontius, who had been watching from the boat, said. “It’s either, like, everything’s okay or this happens. And hopefully it’s always everything’s okay, everything’s okay. But then… you know, this time it’s not okay.”

In an interview taped after his injury, Poopies was shown kicking back with a drink, his arm wrapped up in a cast. “I knew there was a chance I was gonna get bit by a shark but I didn’t think it was gonna happen,” he said. When a producer offscreen asked if he was mad at the shark, he replied, “No, I don’t blame the sharks at all. I mean, I was in their living room, and it was dinner time.”
