The Green Knight stars Dev Patel as Gawain, the youngest knight in his uncle King Arthur’s court. Directed by David Lowery, this film’s telling of Gawain’s story also stars Alicia Vikander, Erin Kellyman, and Ralph Ineson in the titular role as The Green Knight who shows up one winter’s eve to test Gawain’s skill and bravery by issuing an eerie challenge to the knights of the court: Show your strength by beheading the towering Green Knight with an axe.

Young Gawain, the only knight to accept the challenge, beheads the beastly man (who’s also part tree), but the Green Knight doesn’t die, rather, he picks up his own head and tells Gawain that the battle is not over, they are to meet in a wood exactly one year later so that the Green Knight can offer Gawain the same fate.

The epic tale was set to be released in the Spring of 2020, but Lowery chose to retool the film when the release was delayed due to Covid-19. Those tweaks must have worked in its favor, as reviews for the film have been overwhelmingly positive thus far. So how can you watch The Green Knight?

When Will The Green Knight Be Available On Streaming?
