WHY WE’RE CRUSHING: Milian stars as Erica in Netflix Original romantic-comedy film Resort to Love, which premieres on the platform this Thursday, July 29th. In the wake of a career meltdown, aspiring pop star Erica (Milian) lands a gig at her ex-fiance’s (Jay Pharoah) wedding at a luxurious island resort. She soon rediscovers her feelings for him as she tries to keep their past relationship a secret from his bride-to-be.
The Alicia Keys-produced movie features the talents of Milian, Pharoah, Karen Obilom, Sinqua Walls, and Alexander Hodge, and is a major must-watch for anyone looking to see some juicy drama and delightful comedy before the summer ends. Do yourselves a favor by kicking back, relaxing, and enjoying Milian and the rest of the cast’s great work in Resort to Love as soon as it drops, only on Netflix.
WHERE YOU’VE SEEN HER BEFORE: Milian’s professional onscreen career began in 1996, when she appeared in an episode of The WB sitcom Sister, Sister. Just two years later she had her feature film debut with a small voice acting role in animated adventure-comedy A Bug’s Life, before her career quickly gained steam as she racked up roles and appearances in shows like Smart Guy, Charmed, The Wild Thornberrys, Get Real, Smallville, and Meet the Browns, as well as in films like coming-of-age flick The Wood, sex comedy American Pie, teen comedy Love Don’t Cost a Thing, action film Torque, crime comedy Man of the House, crime comedy Be Cool, horror Pulse, and romantic-comedy Ghosts of Girlfriends Past, all just between 1997 and 2010.
Within the past decade, Milian has only continued to cultivate her dynamic list of credits with her work in shows like Family Guy, East Los High, Grandfathered, The Oath, Soundtrack, and Step Up: High Water, and in films like 2013 romantic-comedy Baggage Claim, 2018 drama Memories of Christmas, and 2019 romantic-comedy Falling Inn Love. She is also known for her more melodious career as an R&B and pop singer, during which she has put out three studio albums, earned two Grammy Award nominations, and even recorded the beloved theme song of iconic 2000s animated action comedy-adventure series Kim Possible.
