New Movies on Demand: ‘Peter Rabbit 2,’ ‘Ride The Eagle,’ + More

Much like the famous Ted Lasso question, “Are you a panda or are you a lion?”, this week we’re asking, “Are you a bunny or are you an eagle?” as two of our top picks for new movies on VOD are Peter Rabbit 2: The Runaway, and Ride The Eagle. In Peter Rabbit 2, James Corden is back as the title character, causing mischief in the garden and beyond. In Ride the Eagle, Jake Johnson plays a man whose mother has died, and in order to inherit the house she left him, he needs to do everything on a list she’s left him.

And in Finding You, which has neither predator nor prey (unless you’re talking about the hunt for love), a young violinist, Finley Sinclair (played by Rose Reid) heads to Ireland to study abroad. When she meets a movie star named Beckett Rush (played by Jedidiah Sinclair), the two have an affair that’s threatened by his fame. Based on the book There You’ll Find Me by Jenny B. Jones, the film is a feel-good rom-com with welcome cameos from Vaness redgrave, Tom Everett Scott, and Derry Girls‘ Saoirse-Monica Jackson.

These are just a few of the titles that are available to watch on Amazon Prime Video, iTunes, YouTube, and through your cable service this week. Check out what movies are available to buy or rent on demand now!

Peter Rabbit 2: The Runaway

Everyone loves a talking bunny who loves nothing more than to cause mischief. Peter Rabbit 2: The Runaway, the sequel to the 2018 hit was oft-delayed due to Covid-19, but it was finally released in theaters on June 11, and is now widely available on VOD. The sequel sees our favorite bunny (voiced by James Corden) going super-meta, as Bea (Rose Byrne), his human friend, writes a book about his life, and during the book publishing process, Peter is marketed as the naughty bunny of the group and the whole thing is somehow an ode to Peter and the rest of the characters created by Beatrix Potter, and an ode to the process of creating a movie about Peter Rabbit, too.

Ride The Eagle

“Be the predator, not the prey.” That’s life lesson number one that Jake Johnson’s character, Leif, is taught by his dead mother, played by Susan Sarandon, in Ride The Eagle. When Leif’s mother dies, she leaves him a cabin in the woods which he will only get to keep if he fulfills a list of things she’s left for him, life lessons she never got to teach him when she was still around. And thus, our hero finds himself trying to assert his dominance at the top of the food chain, with the help of J.K. Simmons who plays his mother’s boyfriend, and make amends with people from his past, like his ex, played by D’Arcy Carden.
