Hell Freezes Over as Meghan McCain And Joy Behar Agree on ‘The View’

Is that a flying pig in the sky? Meghan McCain and Joy Behar finally agreed with each other on today’s episode of The View, even sharing a good laugh as they did so. Perhaps McCain was feeling a bit sentimental on her penultimate episode as co-host of the ABC talk show, getting friendly as she tore into billionaires with her frequent foe, Behar.

The ladies were discussing Bill and Melinda Gates‘ divorce on the second-to-last episode of Season 24, sharing their opinion on the recent divorcees’ ability to continue the foundation together. The question: Can you successfully collaborate with an ex on business ventures? While Behar and McCain spent the first half of hot topics at odds about mask mandates and personal freedoms, they were on the same page for the Gates discussion. Behar began, stating that Bill and Melinda’s important work relationship should be kept separate from their home life.

“These people didn’t stay together because they danced well together,” Behar said. “On top of a personal relationship, they had a business relationship. If I were in the position to solve climate crisis or solve world hunger or what have you, and I had to work with my ex? Of course I would do it. Of course I would do it! That is a higher calling.”

Then, she teased other billionaires like Richard Branson, Jeff Bezos, and Elon Musk for their ongoing space race. While digging into their little competition, Behar said Melinda Gates better watch over her ex-husband, who may feel the need to join in on the extra-terrestrial fun.

“The other thing I was thinking is: she’s got to keep her eye on him, just in case he thinks he might want to spend a couple of billion dollars on flying some phallus to Mars, like some other billionaires are doing these days,” Behar joked. “She should keep her eye on him.”

McCain was next in line to talk about the Gates topic, and shockingly, she shared a laugh with Behar. And, for once in a blue moon, McCain went so far as to agree with her co-host on the political matter.

“To Joy’s point, one of the things I liked about Gates was that he didn’t feel the need to exert his bizarre masculinity to fly to the cusp of space, but you’re not really flying because the team of engineers on Earth are doing it,” McCain said. “I think everyone knows how we all feel about the billionaire phallic-off of going into space.”

The co-host went on to say that Bill and Melinda gates are “pretty mature” and may be able to keep the foundation running because it “seems like they’ve got it figured out.”

“Bill and Melinda Gates have an incredible foundation that is doing work not just in our country but around the world,” McCain said. “Good on them for putting their personal life aside to keep the foundation going.”

McCain only has one day left on The View — stay tuned for the co-host’s final farewell tomorrow on ABC.

The View airs weekdays on ABC at 11/10c.
