Update, 9/25: Thanks to TUDUM, Netflix’s virtual fan event, we’ve got a new teaser and an official premiere date:

December 31, 2021

Original story continues as follows:

Get excited, Cobra Kai fans, because we have a one-two punch of news. Netflix not only released a new teaser for the hotly-anticipated fourth season, but the streamer also announced that Season 4 of Cobra Kai premieres in December of 2021! Season 3 spoilers ahead.

The third season of Netflix’s beloved karate dramedy was both a critical and commercial success. Premiering on January 1, 2021, Season 3 featured a number of memorable moments, including the recovery of Miguel (Xolo Maridueña), the return of fan favorite Karate Kid original Ali Mills (Elisabeth Shue), a hint at the return of Karate Kid 3 villain Terry Silver (Thomas Ian Griffith), and one of the best season finales of the year as Daniel and Johnny finally joined forces to take on longtime nemesis John Kreese (Martin Kove).

The newly-released teaser previews the upcoming showdown at the All-Valley Karate Championship. As always, the heart and soul of the Valley hangs perilously in the balance.

The new footage features a number of “blink and you’ll miss them” moments, including Daniel and Miguel training, Johnny and Daniel sharing a fist bump, Johnny karate chopping a concrete block, Tory and Robby fighting in the Cobra Kai dojo (in a similar pose to how Tory and Miguel first sparred), and, presumably, Terry Silver’s ponytail. Netflix also provided a new Season 4 synopsis:

Season 4 finds the Miyagi-Do and Eagle Fang dojos joining forces to take down Cobra Kai at the All Valley Under 18 Karate Tournament… and whoever loses must hang up their gi. As Samantha and Miguel try to maintain the dojo alliance and Robby goes all in at Cobra Kai, the fate of the Valley has never been more precarious. What tricks does Kreese have up his sleeve? Can Daniel and Johnny bury their decades-long hatchet to defeat Kreese? Or will Cobra Kai become the face of karate in the valley?

It’s going to be a cruel (cruel) summer of anticipation, but at least we know when to expect new episodes of Cobra Kai!

The fourth season of Cobra Kai premieres in December of 2021 on Netflix.
