A day early and plenty anticipated, James Gunn’s 2021 feature, The Suicide Squad, aka Suicide Squad 2, is going to be available to watch on HBO Max tonight. The 2021 film, which was simultaneously released in theaters and on HBO Max for ad-free subscribers, is an unusual do-over from Warner Bros. of the 2016 Suicide Squad.

That movie, directed by David Ayer and branded under the DCEU, was a solid success at the box office, but much less so with viewers (not to mention its director, who has all but disavowed the cut of the movie that Warner Bros released back in 2016).

Want to make sure you can watch all the insane antics in the new The Suicide Squad? Here’s what you need to know to stream the film on HBO Max.

How to watch The Suicide Squad / Suicide Squad 2 on HBO Max

The Suicide Squad will be available to stream ONLY on the ad-free tier of HBO Max beginning at 7pm on Thursday, August 5. If you’re not already a subscriber, you can sign up now for $14.99 a month or save 16 percent if you subscribe for a year at $149.99.

How much will Suicide Squad 2 cost?

The Suicide Squad is free if you are a subscriber to the ad-free tier of HBO Max. Unlike Disney+ Premier Access, you won’t have to pay an extra fee on top of your subscription (thanks HBO!).

What time does The Suicide Squad release on HBO Max?

The Suicide Squad was originally scheduled to stream on HBO Max on Friday, August 6, but after the July 29 early screening event went over so well with critics, Warner Bros. decided to drop it a day earlier. That means HBO Max ad-free subscribers were able to watch a special preview of The Suicide Squad at 7 PM, ET on Thursday, August 5, and then on-demand for 31 days after.
