New Movies and Shows to Stream This Weekend: Hit & Run, Val and The Suicide Squad

Let’s jump right in and start off with some big titles, shall we? On HBO Max you can finally bask in what can only be called the fantastic chaos that is James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad. Then on Netflix, check out the new original series Hit & Run, a thriller about a man’s hunt to find out why his wife was killed in what was originally thought to be an accident. The journey — and the answer — will surprise you. And lastly, on Amazon Prime Video there’s Val, the biographical documentary that gives us a peek into the life of perhaps one of the most misunderstood men in Hollywood: Val Kilmer. And these options are just the beginning! Check out the rest of the hit movies and shows now available to stream below:

New on HBO Max August 5: The Suicide Squad

Equal parts baffling and exciting, Warner Bros.’ The Suicide Squad is finally new on HBO Max this weekend. Much like the 2016 film of the almost-identical name, The Suicide Squad is a superhero flick about the DC Comics team of anti-heroes that are recruited by the government to perform dangerous missions in exchange for reduced prison sentences. However, this is director James Gunn’s Suicide Squad, so we can expect that this action-comedy will be filled with historical dialogue, tongue-in-cheek references and enough chaotic energy to power the city of Gotham for years. And while the Marvel Cinematic Universe may have ownership over the largest crossover film in history, The Suicide Squad might own the title for the movie with the most eclectic ensemble cast to date with a cast consisting of Margot Robbie, Idris Elba, John Cena, Alice Braga, Pete Davidson, Nathan Fillion, Flula Borg, Sean Gunn and Sylvester Stallone to name a few. Suffice it to say, The Suicide Squad is a must-watch movie this weekend.
