Stream It Or Skip It: 'Moving On' on VOD, a Disappointing Lily Tomlin-Jane Fonda Revenge-Comedy Vehicle
Break out a nice bottle of wine and settle in with Grace and Frankie this weekend. In a surprise move, Netflix dropped the first four episodes of the show’s seventh and final season at the crack of dawn today. Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin return to their titular roles, respectively, for one last whirlwind through divorce, love, and above all, friendship.
The announcement for the Season 7 sneak preview came with some typical Fonda/Tomlin banter.
“We’ve missed you!” Tomlin begins, adding, “But more importantly, you’ve missed us.” Then, the pair bicker back and forth, eventually cutting to the chase: new episodes are on Netflix, right now.
Although Netflix dropped the first four episodes, there’s still “plenty more to come,” Fonda teases. Season 7 of the hit comedy series will include 16 episodes, meaning there are still a dozen episodes on the way to Netflix in 2022. With Netflix’s final 16-episode-long season, the series will make history as the longest-running Netflix original series ever, topping all previous comedy and drama serials with a whopping 94 episodes. If anyone can do it, Grace and Frankie can!
Season 6 of Grace and Frankie saw a botched Shark Tank attempt, ending with Robert and Sol showing up at the beachside doorstep of Grace and Frankie to move in. These new episodes pick up right where last season’s finale left off, with the ladies’ exes living in the same house — and FBI agents busting down the door.
Along with Fonda and Tomlin, the final season of Grace and Frankie is set to star Sam Waterson, Martin Sheen, June Diane Raphael, Brooklyn Decker, Baron Vaughn, and Peter Gallagher, who are all reprising their roles for the seventh season.
The hit series is produced by Skydance Television, and will see Marta Kauffman and Howard J. Morris returning to their roles as showrunners and executive producers. Fonda, Tomlin, Paula Weinstein, Robbie Tollin, Hannah KS Canter, Marcy Ross, and Skydance’s David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, and Bill Bost are also set as EPs.
The final episodes of Grace and Frankie will debut TBA in 2022.
