Showtime Renews ‘Your Honor’ for Season 2, ‘Desus & Mero’ for Season 4

After the first season of Bryan Cranston‘s hit series Your Honor broke records as the most-watched debut season ever at Showtime, the network has picked up the drama for a second season. At today’s TCA panel, Showtime announced that production on the upcoming 10 episodes will resume next year, teasing a 2022 return to the network.

“We were blown away by Your Honor … by the power of Peter’s storytelling, by the depth of Bryan’s performance, and by the overwhelming reaction from our subscribers who watched in record numbers,” said Showtime’s President of Entertainment, Gary Levine. “Imagine our delight when we learned that Peter believed he had more story to tell and Bryan felt he had more depths to plumb. So, along with its millions of fans, I am gleefully shouting ‘Encore!’”

Cranston will return to star as Michael Desiato, a respected New Orleans judge with a teenage son involved in a hit-and-run accident that sends him into a spiral of lies, deceit, and a game of choices. Though it premiered as a limited series, showrunner Peter Moffat will also return to draft more episodes of the hit drama.

Along with the return of Your Honor, Showtime also picked up comedy Flatbush Misdemeanors for a second season. Created by Kevin Iso and Dan Perlman, who both star in the series, the Brooklyn-based saga will return for more laughs and Flatbush chaos.

Also returning to Showtime is the talk show Desus & Mero, which is currently in the midst of its third season. The talk show led by Desus Nice and The Kid Mero has landed for Season 4, slating more hot topics and celeb guests for 2022. Along with the show, the duo also recently released their advice book, God-Level Knowledge Darts: Life Lessons from the Bronx.

There’s brand new content headed to the network, too. Showtime ordered the comedy pilot The Wood, with The Chi‘s Justin Hillian and Rick Famuyiwa set on the creative team for the project. Per Showtime’s logline, “The Wood is an honest look at friendship and dating from the perspective of three young Black males born and raised in the gentrifying L.A. suburb of Inglewood, fondly referred to by locals as the City Of Champions.”

Vice Special Report returns with Return of the Taliban: A Vice Special Report this fall. Debuting on Sept. 10, the documentary series will debut seven new episodes, including a special about the militant group that seized control of Afghanistan in 11 days following U.S. military withdrawal. The saga will follow other “untold stories of social justice, civil rights and identity, tackling complex geopolitical stories from remote parts of the globe.”

Finally, Showtime announced the premiere of their upcoming Yellowjackets series starring Melanie Lynskey, Juliette Lewis, Christina Ricci, and Tawny Cypress. The 10-episode survival drama will debut on Nov. 14 at 10 p.m. ET on the network. Yellowjackets will follow a high school girls soccer team who survive a plane crash in the wilderness, chronicling “their descent from a complicated but thriving team to savage clans, while also tracking the lives they’ve attempted to piece back together nearly 25 years later,” per Showtime’s description.
