‘The View’ Audiences Celebrate New Promo Without Meghan McCain: “Looking Forward to Watching Now”

Get ready for today’s hot topic: that bizarre promo The View released on their Twitter account today. After a brief summer hiatus, the ABC talk show is returning for more famous guests, controversial discussions, and heated arguments. Well, maybe less of that last one, actually, because quarrelsome co-host Meghan McCain has removed herself from the panel. In this new teaser, audiences are finally get their first look at The View post-McCain.

To no one’s surprise, most folks are pretty elated by her absence. The dystopian-like clip was released yesterday (Aug. 23), displaying a dark studio with five empty chairs: one for Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Behar, Sunny Hostin, Sara Haines, and for whomever McCain’s replacement may be. And then, instead of giving a glimpse at any of them, the clip simply has the co-hosts’ voices boom over, announcing themselves and adding some insight to the show.

“Have no fear, The View girls are here!” Behar chimes in.

“The thing that never changes on The View is its great conversations with great women,” Goldberg follows.

We’ll see which great woman is set to follow in McCain’s footsteps. Folks weren’t all that hung up over who might fill the fifth chair at all — rather, when they watched the clip, they honed in on their long-awaited freedom from McCain.

“Thank God MM is GONE & I can end my boycott!” one Twitter user wrote.

“Looking forward to watching now that MeghanMcCain is gone,” voiced another.

A handful of folks did share their recommendations for who should join the panel as a new host. Plenty of viewers are rooting for Ana Navarro to hop in full-time (she’s currently subbing in for the hosts when they’re gone), and other recommendations included Mary Trump, Cardi B, Raven Symone, or Keke Palmer.

One viewer, however, still anticipates the return of McCain: “I see 5 chairs,” they wrote. “Megan had better be gone, for good.”

McCain left The View after the talk show wrapped Season 24 earlier this month. Currently, the TV personality is working on her audio memoir Bad Republican, as well as serving as a producer on an upcoming Lifetime film starring Heather Locklear.

The View will return to ABC on Tuesday, Sept. 7 at 11/10c. Watch the full promo in the clip above.
