As we approach the tenth anniversary of HBO‘s lauded Entourage finale, are talks of a reboot heating up again? Adrian Grenier, who famously played Vincent “Vince” Chase on the series, commented on the matter while promoting his new Netflix drama Clickbait. Not only did the actor voice his support for the project, Grenier chimed in with his own ideas for what a reboot may look like.
After Kevin Dillon, who played Johnny “Drama” Chase on the HBO series, stated in a 2020 interview that series creator Doug Ellin was considering reviving the show, Ellin wrote on Instagram that he was “considering my consideration.” Finally, Grenier addressed those Entourage revival rumors, clearing the air on the matter.
“First, I’ll look at the deal,” Grenier told Entertainment Weekly. “What is it? What are we doing? I’m pretty open to anything. I’m pretty focused right now, but if there’s an opportunity to reboot Entourage, I’d certainly take a look.”
Since it’s been a decade since the show ended, Grenier added that today’s Entourage might look a little different than the original. For example, his character’s childhood friend-turned-driver Salvatore “Turtle” Assante (Jerry Ferrara) would probably be the focus of the show instead of his Vincent Chase.
“I think Turtle would be Vince,” Grenier said, laughing. “Turtle would be the celebrity. And I’d drive him.”
When the Grenier interview dropped on Wednesday (Aug. 25), Ellin shared a screencap of the post with a simple message: “Noted.” How cryptic!
Entourage ran for eight seasons on HBO from 2004-2011, with the cast including folks like Dillon, Grenier, Ferrara, Jeremy Piven, Kevin Connolly, Debi Mazar, and more. The show entered the film sphere with a 2015 film of the same name, debuting to a bleak critical reception. Still, folks are hopeful that the show will debut with a ninth season, or a completely separate revival.
