‘The Problem With Jon Stewart’ To Premiere September 30 on Apple TV+

Jon Stewart is stepping back into the spotlight. Today, Apple TV+ announced that the star’s new current affairs show — The Problem With Jon Stewart — will premiere September 30, with subsequent episodes dropping every other week. The show’s official podcast will premiere the same day, with new episodes every week.

The Problem With Jon Stewart is a single-issue series that takes a “deep dive” into topics that are currently part of the national conversation. The companion podcast will extend the conversation from each episode “featuring staff members from across the show who will bring us interviews with activists in the space, the facts on the issue, and yes, lots of jokes.”

The show’s new teaser trailer shows Stewart getting ready, before bemoaning his appearance in his dressing room mirror. In a previous teaser, Apple TV+ revealed The Problem‘s premiere month with a faux movie trailer in which Stewart lampooned the billionaire space race between Jeff Bezos and Richard Branson.

“Why would I go back to a visual medium?” he groans. “I could’ve done a podcast.”

The Problem With Jon Stewart  marks Stewart’s first TV hosting role since he stepped down from The Daily Show in 2015, and his first project under his multi-year deal with Apple TV+.

The series is helmed by Brinda Adhikari, who also serves as an executive producer alongside Stewart, Richard Plepler and James Dixon, Stewart’s longtime manager. Chelsea Devantez is head writer and Lorrie Baranek is supervising producer.
