This week, we’re hitting all the right notes by celebrating a fantastic actress, singer, and performer who has been consistently lighting up screens and stages alike for the past 20+ years. WHO’S THAT GAL: Laura Benanti

WHY WE’RE CRUSHING: Benanti plays Karen Abate in Netflix Original movie Worth, which premieres on the platform this Friday, September 3rd. This biographical drama film revolves around an attorney (Michael Keaton) in Washington D.C. who battles against cynicism, bureaucracy and politics to help the victims of 9/11. In addition to Benanti and Keaton, the heart-wrenching film also features Stanley Tucci, Amy Ryan, Tate Donovan, and Marc Maron. Multiple publications have already sung praises for both the film and Benanti’s performance in particular, describing her work as “striking,” “heartbreaking,” and an “awards-worthy turn.” Make sure to see what all of the hype is about by watching Benanti and the rest of the amazing cast in Worth as soon as it is available on Netflix

WHERE YOU’VE SEEN HER BEFORE: While primarily known for her wildly successful onstage career that has earned her a Tony Award and two Drama Desks Awards (as well as many devoted fans), Benanti has also enjoyed plenty of triumphs and notable performances on screens big and small throughout the years. Her professional onscreen career began in 2005 with the lead role of Billie Frasier in FX sitcom Starved. Just one year later, she had her feature film debut in drama dance movie Take the Lead, which opened the door for roles in other films and specials like 2006 romantic-comedy Falling for Grace, 2010 crime-drama Meskada, 2013 NBC musical special The Sound of Music Live!, and a 2016 filmed version of Broadway musical She Loves Me.

Benanti also began picking up an impressive and varied list of television credits that included Eli StoneLife on MarsThe Big CThe Playboy Club, and Law & Order: SVU before earning her first big main role in 2012 as Lauren Bennett in NBC sitcom Go On.
