‘The Great British Baking Show’ Season 9 to Premiere on Netflix September 24

On your marks, get set, bake! The Great British Baking Show is returning at last! Earlier this summer Netflix confirmed that the 14th season of The Great British Baking Show, known as Collection 9 on Netflix, would premiere later this fall. Now we have an official premiere date. The Great British Baking Show Season 9 will premiere on Netflix on Friday, September 24 with new episodes debuting weekly. Netflix confirmed it’s sticking to its schedule with a tweet:

The Great British Baking Show is the American-ized title of the UK’s global hit reality show The Great British Bake Off. (The phrase “Bake Off” is actually owned by Pillsbury — you know, like the dough boy — in the United States and Canada, hence it’s different name over here.) The series asks amateur bakers from all over Great Britain to convene in a weeks-long baking competition. There the bakers are tested on everything from biscuits and bread to the fanciest of French pastry. Judging their efforts are British baking superstars Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith. Along for the fun? Hosts Noel Fielding and Matt Lucas.

The Great British Baking Show first appeared stateside on PBS before finding a niche home on Amazon’s Prime Video. However The Great British Baking Show became a mega-hit when Netflix got the streaming rights. When the series switched broadcasters in the UK, Netflix swooped in and became a global production partner. Which is why Americans finally get to watch new episodes of the series the same week they drop in the UK.

The Great British Baking Show will premiere on Friday, September 24 on Netflix.
