‘Locke & Key’ Season 2 Trailer Teases New Keys, October Premiere Date

You know what they always say: you take some Lockes, you take some keys, throw them in a trailer… Baby, you got a stew going. And the first teaser trailer for Locke & Key Season 2 is certainly a thick, meaty broth of intrigue as the hit series races towards its return this October 22.

Based on the comics by Joe Hill and Gabriel Rodriguez, Locke & Key kicks off with the death of Locke family patriarch Rendell Locke (Bill Heck). Killed mysteriously by one of his students, his family moves back to his ancestral home in Matheson, Massachusetts, only to discover his home is filled with mysterious, magical keys. Along with the wonder and excitement of magic turning out to be real, they also discover a dark side: an evil entity named Dodge (Laysla De Oliveira) who will stop at nothing to possess the keys. And once she does, she’s going to open the Black Door, a portal to a dimension filled with demons just like her.

At the end of Season 1 — and spoilers past this point — Dodge did manage to open the Black Door, and let through another demon, which infected local Matheson teen Eden Hawkins (Hallea Jones). Dodge also revealed that using a face-changing key, she was masquerading as another local teen, Gabe (Griffin Gluck). Local teens: always up to no good! Meanwhile, the Locke kids — oldest son Tyler (Connor Jessup), middle kid Kinsey (Emilia Jones) and youngest Bode (Jackson Robert Scott) — all thought they got rid of Dodge, and were finally able to move on with their lives.

Oh, and their gym teacher Ellie Whedon (Sherri Saum) was trapped behind the Black Door in the form of Dodge, leaving her son Rufus (Coby Bird) behind. Yikes.

When Season 2 picks up, the Lockes will have new keys to deal with, multiple demons, and bigger threats. And if you thought it was over, think again: Netflix has already greenlit a third season of Locke & Key, which should wrap production on September 17. Meaning even after Locke & Key Season 2 drops, the Lockes aren’t done with Dodge or The Black Door quite yet.

Check out the trailer above with a healthy helping of your favorite stew or soup. Or not. Your choice. Honestly, it was a weird joke to kick off an otherwise straightforward article with, but hey, it’s a living.
