‘Ozark’: Get Your First Look at the Final Season

Take a good look, because it’s the last time you’ll see Jason Bateman’s Ozark on Netflix, with a first look at the final season, giving us a good idea of how things are going to end for the Byrde family and all their friends — and enemies. And yes, this is like the seventh sneak peek we’ve seen today at Netflix’s TUDUM event.

In case you’re worried that Ozark is ending imminently, don’t worry: Netflix is doing their “dragging it out” thing, and will release the fourth and final season in two parts, with seven episodes each. That means you’ll get Season 4, Part 1 at some point down the road, and presumably a few months later, Season 4, Part 2. This will actually make Season 4 the longest season yet, as each previous season of Ozark lasted 10 episodes.

“A super sized season means super sized problems for the Byrdes. I’m excited to end with a bang(s),” Bateman said in a statement provided to Decider back in June, 2020, when the split final season was first announced.

The series, which is showrun, written, and executive produced by Chris Mundy, stars Jason Bateman (who is also an EP), Laura Linney, Julia Garner, Sofia Hublitz, Skylar Gaertner, Charlie Tahan, and Lisa Emery. Linney will also be Co-Executive Producing the final season.

Ozark is the story of the wealthy who lost everything, and the one man who had no choice but to keep them all together. The show has been a massive critical hit for Netflix, with fourteen Emmy nominations and two wins, for Jason Bateman for Outstanding Directing for a Drama Series, and Julia Garner for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series. It’s also nabbed two Golden Globe nominations and six Screen Actor’s Guild Awards. Presumably, by splitting up the final season, Netflix is hopes to double their chances at awards shows over (potentially) two different nomination seasons, though that’s TBD.

Check out the first look above, and cross your fingers that the Byrds don’t end up in paper bags marked “dead Byrd, do not eat.”

Ozark‘s final season is filming now, and will premiere both parts in 2022.
