Who Is Player 067 in ‘Squid Game’? Meet Korean Model HoYeon Jung

The conversation surrounding Squid Game is heating up: the Korean mind game series is reportedly set to overtake Bridgerton as Netflix‘s most popular show of all time. And while the show may be all about Gi-hun’s quest to take the cash prize home to his young daughter, there are still 455 other contestants worth talking about. One of those players worth discussing is No. 067 — or, her real name, Kang Sae-Byeok.

One of the many players to compete in children’s games for a cash prize of ₩45.6 billion (that’s a whopping $38.5 million), Player 067 is competing to free her little brother from an orphanage. But the rules of the game may lead to her demise: if she loses the Game, she’ll be killed. And there can only be one winner, so her chances are slim.

So, who plays this player? Does No. 067 die? Here’s everything we know about Player 067 in Squid Game.

Who is Player 067 in Squid Game? Meet HoYeon Jung:

Player 067 is played by South Korean model HoYeon Jung. This series actually marks Jung’s first foray into acting, having already made her TV debut competing on Korea’s Next Top Model.

Jung began modeling when she was just 16. After making her big break in the Seoul Fashion Week, she appeared on Season 4 of Korea’s Next Top Model, taking second place in the competition series. She’s been on the cover of major magazines like Vogue Japan, Vogue Korea, W Korea, and Harper’s Bazaar Korea.

What happens to Player 067 in Squid Game? Does Player 067 die?

Spoilers ahead! Sadly, Player 067 does die in Squid Game. Because she’s shorter and not as buff as some of the other players, she’s ignored as a prime competitor. Although their relationship starts out rocky, she forms a bond with Gi-hun and the pair team up to win the Game together. But even though they have each other’s backs, another competitor kills Player 067 while Gi-hun’s back is turned.

When the Game ends and Gi-hun is deemed the winner, he doesn’t forget his ties with Player 067. Knowing her younger brother, Sang-woo, needs money, he sends some of his winnings over to him in honor of her death.

Who else stars in Squid Game?

The protagonist, Gi-hun, is played by Jung-jae Lee. Stephen Fu stars as Player 067’s brother, Sang-Woo. Other stars of Squid Game include Lee Byung-hun, Greg Chun, Paul Nakauchi, Hideo Kimura, and Donald Chang.
