‘The Harder They Fall’: Jonathan Majors and Idris Elba Have A Showdown In Netflix’s Jay-Z-Produced Western

Jonathan Majors and Idris Elba are going head-to-head in the new trailer for The Harder They Fall, director Jeymes Samuel’s upcoming Netflix Western. The film will premiere in select theaters on October 22 before it hits the streamer on November 3.

The Harder They Fall stars Majors as outlaw Nat Love, who seeks revenge upon discovering that his nemesis Rufus Buck (Elba) is being released from prison.

“This is going to be Buck’s last day amongst the living,” Love remarks ominously in the trailer.

Joining him are his ex-lover Stagecoach Mary (Zazie Beetz), his right and left hand men — hot-tempered Bill Pickett (Edi Gathegi) and fast drawing Jim Beckwourth (R.J. Cyler) — and an unexpected adversary-turned-ally.

But Buck has his own formidable crew, including “Treacherous” Trudy Smith (Regina King) and Cherokee Bill (LaKeith Stanfield), leading to an action-packed standoff between the rival cowboys and cowgirls. As the official Netflix tagline notes, “This ain’t your granddaddy’s Western!”

The Harder They Fall‘s new trailer also teases a new Jay-Z and Kid Cudi track, which plays in its second half as battles break out between Love and Buck’s groups.

The film also stars Delroy Lindo, Danielle Deadwyler, Damon Wayans Jr., and Dean Cole. Samuel wrote the script with Boaz Yakin, and produced the film alongside Shawn Carter (aka Jay-Z), Lawrence Bender, and James Lassiter, with G. Mac Brown serving as an executive producer.
