What happened on RPDR UK Season 3 Episode 1 ?

The season got off to a fierce start with the introduction of a dozen new competitors—or, okay, really just 11 new competitors and one returning Veronica Green. The queens made first impressions: Kitty Scott-Claus is already in the running for Miss Congeniality, Choriza May nailed that entrance line (“Don’t hate me because I’m beautiful. Hate me because I’m an immigrant.”), Ella Vaday’s West End resume has Veronica Green nervous, Charity Kase is here to dethrone Sharon Needles as the queen of spooky, and Victoria Scone makes herstory as the first cis female drag artist to compete on any iteration of Drag Race. This cast is here to werk.

The dolls competed in Ru’s Dirty Charades for the mini-challenge, with Victoria’s physical comedy and Choriza’s run of spot-on guessing pulling major laughs from RuPaul.

On the main stage, the two categories were looks inspired by their hometowns and their favorite things.

Victoria got rave reviews for her Cardiff flower and Leigh Bowery-inspired teatime look; Scarlett Harlett turned heads with her East London pearly queen look and ode to 1980s music; but it was Krystal Versace’s glamorous green Kent getup and her sexy chic cat costume that really impressed the judges. Victoria and Krystal were named the top two queens and, in a first for a non-All Stars season, they had to lipsync for the win. Krystal stole the show with her emotive performance of “Total Eclipse of the Heart.”

On the bottom, River Medway’s hilarious point-and-scoot runway performance as Medway’s Thomas Waghorn statue had the judges rolling, but her ode to music was not top of the pops; Elektra Fence’s coal miner and birthday minor looks did not turn the party; and Anubis’ windy Brighton look and sea creatures look were a bit basic. Anubis and Elektra squared off to Little Mix’s “Sweet Melody” and Elektra Fence ruvealed herself to be a real lip sync assassin. Sashay away, Anubis.
