Apple TV+ Cancels Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s ‘Mr. Corman’ After Just One Season

Apple TV has canceled Joseph Gordon-Levitt‘s dramedy Mr. Corman after just one season.

The A24-produced series starring and created by Gordon-Levitt, premiered its final episode on Friday. Although Apple, like other streamers, doesn’t release viewing data on its shows, sources say viewership for Mr. Corman audience fell below the benchmark for the platform’s other comedies.

In the show, Gordon-Levitt plays a fifth-grade teacher who has crippling anxiety after his committed relationship with the musically gifted Megan (Juno Temple) comes to an end. He also realizes that he likely won’t reach his dream of music stardom. Gordon-Levitt directed eight of Mr. Corman‘s 10 episodes and also wrote much of the series, which also stars Arturo Castro, Debra Winger, Bobby Hall (aka Logic), Alexander Jo, Jamie Chung, Shannon Woodward and Hector Hernandez.

Mr. Corman is only the second show cancelled at Apple TV+ after its first season in the platform’s nearly two years of existence. The streamer also ended Little Voice after a single season. There are some shows, however, that have not yet been confirmed for renewal.

Apple remains in business with Gordon-Levitt and his HitRecord company despite axing the show. Apple TV+ debuted an animated series, Wolfboy and the Everything Factory, produced by HitRecord and featuring voice work by Gordon-Levitt, last week.

Gordon-Levitt executive produces the series with Bruce Eric Kaplan and Ravi Nandan.
