‘Dash & Lily’ Canceled By Netflix After One Season

Netflix has some not-so-jolly news for Dash & Lily fans. Today, the streamer officially canceled the holiday rom-com series after one season.

Based on Rachel Cohn and David Levithan’s books of the same name, the show followed Austin Abrams‘ cynical Dash and and Midori Francis‘ bright-eyed Lily, who fell for each other while exchanging dares and secret messages in a notebook passed around New York City at the height of the holiday season. In the Season 1 finale — now the series finale — they finally shared a kiss at midnight on New Year’s Eve at the city’s iconic Strand Bookstore.

“I would love to be able to go back and do the second book and third book [in the series],” Dash & Lily creator Joe Tracz told TVLine when Season 1 premiered in November 2020. “The third book was actually written on set. David and Rachel would visit set, and they’d be working on their chapters for the third book. I love these characters so much and the city that they live in. Knowing that there is more stories to be told, those are stories I’d love to tell.”

Dash & Lily also starred Dante Brown and Troy Iwata. Shawn Levy and Josh Barry executive produced for the production company 21 Laps, while Jonas produced for his company, Image 32. Cohn and Levithan served as co-executive producers.
