It was only a matter of time before the opioid epidemic received the prestige TV treatment. This week marks the premiere of Dopesick, Hulu’s star-studded drama about the origins and effects of one of the biggest drug epidemics in American history. If you weren’t already suspicious of the pharmaceutical industry, that’s about to change.

Dopesick isn’t just following one major trend of prestige TV. It’s another show that has a rather confusing release schedule, something that’s becoming the norm in this crowded landscape. Wondering when you can expect new episodes of this Hulu original? We have your back. Consider this your guide to Dopesick‘s release schedule.

How Many Episodes Are in Dopesick?

Altogether, there will be eight episodes in this Hulu miniseries. Dopesick is based off the book Dopesick: Dealers, Doctors and the Drug Company that Addicted America by Beth Macy. Considering that episode order and source material, it’s likely that this new drama will be a one and done deal.

Who’s in the Cast of Dopesick?

Hulu’s newest miniseries takes a unique look at the rise of OxyContin in America. Rather than merely focusing on the drug’s disastrous effects, it tells the story of its creator and how Purdue Pharma downplayed the side effects of a drug it knew to be deadly. Because Dopesick is based on a true story, there are some characters in the series that are based on real life people. The biggest name on this short list is Michael Stuhlbarg, who plays Purdue Pharma chairman Richard Sackler. Sackler’s cousins, Beth Sackler (Andrea Frankle) and Kathe Sackler (Jamie Ray Newman), are also real people.

But the majority of Dopesick‘s cast features fictionalized characters. In addition to Stuhlbarg, Frankle, and Newman, the series stars Michael Keaton, Peter Sarsgaard, Will Poulter, John Hoogenakker, Kaitlyn Dever, Rosario Dawson, Phillipa Soo, and Ray McKinnon. Whether you love Hamilton or Sons of Anarchy, you’re going to recognize some familiar faces in this miniseries.
