It’s been almost two years since we last saw YOU‘s Joe Goldberg. And if you’re anything like us, you can’t get enough.

YOU Season 3 picks up right after the events of last season. Instead of fleeing to stalk another day, Joe (Penn Badgely) learned that his new crazy love, Love ( Victoria Pedretti), was pregnant. That’s how this couple came to haunt the suburbs. Whether you’ve already finished this new season and need a guide to confirm that things really did get that nuts, or you’re the type of person who likes to flip to the end of the book, we have your back. Here’s your guide to YOU Season 3’s double-crossing ending.

What Happened to Sherry and Cary?

Long story short? The mommy blogger you love to hate and her masculinity-obsessed husband made it out alive. Things looked grim from Sherry (Shalita Grant) and Cary (Travis Van Winkle), mostly because of their own arguing. After Cary grazed Sherry’s ear with a bullet, Sherry shot her husband in the leg. But something good came out of all that stress: honesty. Sherry admitted that she was always trying to be a perfect version of herself for her “golden boy” husband, and Cary admitted that he had always loved his wife and knew she was the smart one in the relationship. They made up, still trapped in Joe and Love’s cage in the basement of Love’s bakery shop.

That trust and understanding made Sherry realize Joe and Love’s weakness. Though they’re equals, they have never trusted each other. That meant one or both of them hid a key in the cage. Sherry managed to find the key and break them out.

So what did this married couple do with their newfound freedom? Write a book and host a TED Talk, of course. Sherry and Cary embraced the cage, creating a new intensive form of couples counseling around it. Gossip about these two all you want, but they’re resourceful.

Is Theo OK?

We covered the fates of two of Joe and Love’s victims, but what about Theo (Dylan Arnold), the neighboring teenager Love slept with throughout Season 3? In Episode 9 Theo discovered Sherry and Cary in the cage under Love’s bakery. Always one to think the worst of Joe, Theo jumped to the conclusion that Joe was responsible and tried to save Love from the husband he assumed was deranged. Unfortunately, he was afraid of the wrong parent. Love attacked Theo, and thought that she killed her former lover.

Theo was later found by Joe who was sent to dispose of his body. That’s when this kid caught two major breaks. Theo survived! And he happened to catch Joe right after this vengeful killer made a deal to be a better person! Theo should really try playing the lottery.

Instead of finishing the job, Joe drugged Theo and took him to the hospital. He was later found by his father. We know that at the end of the season, Theo has been going to physical therapy and has been seeing improvements. It just goes to show that Joe can be nice approximately once a season.

What Happened to Little Baby Henry?

Before we get to the fate of our not-so-happy couple, we need to talk about their kid. “What Is Love?”, the Season 3 finale, is filled with some pretty big revelations. In a short amount of time, Joe learned that Love had been cheating on him with a teenager, that she tried to murder said teenager, and that the new love of Joe’s life, Marienne (Tati Gabrielle), wanted to run away with him. Armed with all this knowledge, Joe decided to confront Love once and for all. And that confrontation involved abandoning his son.

After dealing with Love, Joe left Henry with Dante (Ben Mehl) and Lansing (Noel Arthur), his co-workers who wanted a kid but were having a difficult time adopting. Through Joe’s voiceover it’s revealed that, after Joe’s little fire show (more on that in a second), there was a contentious legal battle for custody of Henry, but they were eventually able to adopt him. Joe swears that he’ll see his son again, and honestly? That’s probably the worst thing that could happen to this innocent kid.

Now for the Big One: What Happened to Joe and Love?

Now that the appetizers are cleared, it’s time for the main course. As mentioned before, Joe learned of Love’s secret affair and latest murder and decided to talk to her. But Joe wasn’t exactly innocent, either. Around the same time, Love connected the pieces, realizing that Joe was in love with, aka stalking, his boss Marienne. She made him his favorite meal, roast chicken, and confronted him about his affair. Joe in turn revealed that he knew about Love’s affair and asked for a divorce.

This is where things got tricky. After Joe asked for a divorce, Love left the table to check on Henry. Unsure about what his dearly beloved would do, Joe grabbed a knife from the chicken. Little did he know that knife was laced with aconite, a paralyzing drug made from wolfsbane.

As he slowly lost mobility, Love pointed out that he was only poisoned because he grabbed a weapon and that his suspicions were correct. She did murder her late husband James. That death was an accident. After James started to recover from cancer, he asked her for a divorce, which is when she first used aconite. Love claimed she just wanted to talk to him, but the dose she used was too powerful, resulting in his untimely death. This time, she assured Joe, she hasn’t made the same mistake.

Love tied up Joe and texted Marienne from his phone, telling her to come over immediately. When Marienne did appear, Love was ready to kill her. She had a grilling fork and everything. But when Marienne’s daughter appeared, she changed her mind. Instead, she told Marienne that Joe murdered her manipulative ex Ryan (Scott Michael Foster) and told her in no uncertain terms to stay away from Joe. This time, instead of that advice being a threat, it was given as a warning. Marienne seemed to get the red flag-covered hint and fled, advising Love to do the same.

You know how some people make their lives look effortless and noble? That’s how Love saw Marienne’s role as a single mom, which is why she changed her plan. Instead of killing Marienne, she decided to kill Joe. But right before she was ready to slit his throat, Joe injected her with a dose of aconite.

How’d he do that? Well, months ago Joe became suspicious when he noticed that Love was growing wolfsbane. He did his research, bided his time, and made sure he always had adrenaline on hand, the only drug that could counteract aconite’s effects. And when Love fled after he asked for a divorce, he had a hunch. He took the adrenaline, making the score Love 1, Joe 1.

Joe wasn’t content to tie. As Love lost consciousness, he set up the house to cover his escape. That involved baking a chicken pot pie, cutting off a couple of his toes to stick in said pie, emailing a suicide letter from Love to the HOA, and setting his house on fire in an explosion sparked by their wedding album. Say what you will about Joe, but he’s theatricality never disappoints. Joe then fled, hoping that his trail of evidence would be enough for the authorities to believe what he wanted: that Love Quinn was the Merry Murderer of Madre Linda. It worked. According to Joe, her story became “more famous even than Guinevere Beck.” But who’s keeping score?

Is Love Really Dead?

It seems like the answer is yes. She was unconscious when Joe set their house on fire. If she survived, she would have had to wake up, power through the effects of an intense paralyzing drug, find a hiding place away from authorities, and lay low for months. Also, the authorities would have to believe she was dead after failing to find her body. That’s a long shot.

But it’s certainly possible that this isn’t the last we’ll be seeing of Love Quinn. After all, this is YOU we’re talking about. Never trust that anyone is dead until you see the body.

Where Is Joe Now?

Joe fled to Paris. Don’t worry; he didn’t actually learn anything and this isn’t a new, non-murderous start. He’s still out looking for Marienne and her daughter. You can bet that Season 4 he’ll still be looking for her, the first woman on Joe’s love list who’s smart enough to want nothing to do with him.
