‘DC’s Stargirl’ Goes Black and White in This Sneak Peek From Next Week’s Episode

Is Courtney Whitmore (Brec Bassinger) dead? Is this the end of Stargirl??? Probably not, given there are still three more episodes left before The CW’s DC’s Stargirl wraps up its second season, and also her name is in the title. But that was the implication left at the end of the last episode when she was sucked into a black puddle of goop by arch-villain Eclipso (Nick Tarabay).

But now, thanks to a sneak peek at next week’s episode, “Summer School: Chapter Eleven”, just unveiled at DC FanDome, we have a better idea of what’s next for Courtney — and a few other surprise characters.

In the two plus minute clip, we first get to see the climactic battle from last week’s hour. After Jennie (Ysa Penarejo) accidentally over-powered Eclipso using her Green Lantern ring, Courtney was sent to a shadow dimension while her step-father Pat (Luke Wilson) helplessly watched. Returning home, Pat, Barb (Amy Smart) and Mikey (Trae Romano) hug and sob while Jennie looks on, stricken.

But all hope is not lost! Courtney wakes up in a black and white world where she’s been taunted by the younger version of Eclipso, little Bruce Gordon (Milo Stein). Courtney isn’t alone, though… We get to see Cindy Burman (Meg DeLacy), who was also sucked into a shadow puddle by Eclipso, being tortured by her father the Dragon King (Nelson Lee).

Plenty of other departed characters are in this shadow realm, most notably Joey Zarick (Wil Deusner), whose death almost broke Courtney last season. Oh, and one more: Dr. Mid-Nite (Alex Collins), who disappeared years earlier when the Justice Society of America fought the Injustice Society of America. Turns out, he was in the shadow realm all along, and may be the key to both Courtney and Cindy escaping.

You can watch the rest of the clip above, and DC’s Stargirl airs Tuesdays at 8/7c on The CW.
