‘The Flash’ Season 8 First Look: New Boots, New Suit

It’s taken eight seasons, but The Flash (Grant Gustin) is finally getting an iconic part of his comic book costume. In a first look rolled out as part of today’s DC FanDome event, fans got to see the Scarlet Speedster in his classic golden boots.

Now that’s what I call [wait for it] breaking shoes!

Anyway, the new look will debut during The CW series’ forthcoming five-episode event that kicks off Season 8. But that’s not the only part of the suit that’s new: The Flash’s Season 8 suit also features a newly designed center crest and wings.

During the livestream, Gustin commented on the look, noting that the boots were “the final element that’s been missing. I’ve loved all the versions of The Flash suit we’ve had on the show, but the suit we have now is the closest to the many iterations you see in the comic books — with the exception of those gold boots! I’ve always felt that those boots would be the final touch.”

How and why The Flash will get an upgraded suit, other than that’s the sort of thing that usually happens in a season premiere, is unknown at the current time. However, we do know that the event is titled “Armageddon”, and will feature the return/team-up of multiple heroes and villains from throughout the Arrow-verse including: Javicia Leslie as Batwoman, Brandon Routh as The Atom, Cress Williams as Black Lightning, Chyler Leigh as Sentinel, Kat McNamara as Mia Queen and Osric Chau as Ryan Choi. Not only that, but two fan favorite villains will be rearing their heads during the event: Tom Cavanagh as  Eobard Thawne/Reverse Flash, and Neal McDonough as Damien Darhk.

Check out the new look below, and The Flash returns to The CW on Tuesday, November 16 at 8/7c.
