Ex-‘Batwoman’ Star Ruby Rose Threatens The CW Network, Promises To Tell “What Really Happened” on Troubled Set

Former Batwoman star Ruby Rose is opening up about the working conditions she faced on the CW series, which she departed last year after just one season. Neither Rose nor the show’s producers revealed why she was leaving the show at the time, but now the actress is explaining her side of the narrative via a series of Instagram stories indicting her former co-workers and producers (including Warner Bros. Television Studios president Peter Roth).

“Dear CW, enough is enough,” she wrote, tagging showrunner Caroline Dries and Berlanti Productions’ Greg Berlanti and Sarah Schechter. “I’m going to tell the world what really happened on that set.”

Among the allegations, Rose said the show’s producers were responsible for her multiple on-set injuries, including a serious neck injury, a broken rib, a cut “so close to my eye… I could have been blind,” and a tumor. She also revealed that she was forced to return to work just 10 days after undergoing surgery for one of these injuries, with Roth reportedly threatening to recast her role and fire cast and crew members if she spent more time recovering.

Rose also detailed numerous stunt performer injuries on-set, including a burn injury so graphic she said the network should’ve offered therapy for it. The actress added that one of these accidents occurred because the show refused to shut down in response to the COVID-19 pandemic at the same time as other CW series. Rose accused Dries of having “no heart,” and alleged that the showrunner only visited the set 4 times in a year (despite ordering the cast and crew to finish Season 1 throughout the pandemic).

She also called out Roth for inappropriate behavior, such as making women steam his pants while he was still wearing them and hiring a private investigator to keep tabs on Rose after she departed Batwoman.

“I wouldn’t return [to Batwoman] for any amount of money nor if a gun were to my head,” Rose wrote. “They ruined Kate Kane and they destroyed Batwoman, not me. I followed orders, and if I wanted to stay I was going to have to sign my rights away. Any threats, any bullying tactics or blackmail will not make me stand down.”
