George Lopez & Daughter Mayan To Star In NBC Family Comedy ‘Lopez Vs. Lopez’

George Lopez and his daughter Mayan are set to star in Lopez Vs. Lopez, an NBC multi-camera family comedy which has been picked up to pilot.

The series hails from The Conners duo Bruce Helford and Debby Wolfe and had been in development since the beginning of the summer.

The Latino working-class comedy centers on family dysfunction, reuniting and everything else along the way.

The pilot season is written by Wolfe, who executive produced The Conners along with Helford, who will supervise. Helford co-created ABC’s The George Lopez Show, which ran for six seasons from 2002-2007.

Wolfe and Helford will both exec produce the NBC pilot along with George Lopez as well as 3 Arts’ Michael Rotenberg and Katie Newman. Mayan Lopez will also serve as a producer on the series with help from Universal Television.

Helford’s Mohawk Productions will produce with Travieso Productions, Mi Vida Loba and 3 Arts.

Wolfe, a Salvadoran-American writer, came up with the concept and pitched it to George and Mayan Lopez who then participated in its development. Helford introduced Wolfe to the Lopez duo and has since been helping out.
