Finn Wolfhard Says ‘Stranger Things’ Season 4 Will Be Scariest Installment Yet: “[It’s] Going to Freak People Out

Stranger Things fans will have to wait until 2022 to finally find out what happens to Hopper, Eleven, and the rest of the Hawkins gang. But it sounds like the Netflix series’ highly anticipated fourth season will be worth the wait — according to star Finn Wolfhard, it’s the spookiest installment yet.

“We say it ever year like, ‘This season’s scarier. This season’s scarier,'” Wolfhard said in a recent appearance on the Matt Wilkinson Show. “This season is like truly messed up, and it’s going to freak people out a lot.”

He continued: “You know [creators] the Duffer Brothers are doing things that people haven’t seen before in the show, which is really refreshing, because if the show has been going on for as long as it has, you want people to still care.”

When Stranger Things last left off back in 2019, the Byers family moved across the country to get a fresh start after Hopper’s (David Harbour) supposed death. While Wolfhard’s character Mike was forced to say goodbye to his girlfriend Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown), the actor reassured fans that Mike still has a big role to play in Season 4.

So far, details about the new season have been kept largely under wraps. Based on a teaser, we do know that Hopper isn’t dead, but actually in a Russian Gulag. New cast members include Jamie Campbell Bower, Robert Englund, Eduardo Franco, Joseph Quinn, Tom Wlaschiha, Sherman Augustus, Mason Dye, and Nikola Djuricko. Oh, and the title of the first episode is “The Hellfire Club.”
