‘Walking Dead’ Exclusive: Get a Closer Look at the CRM Uniforms With These Pages From ‘The Art of AMC’s The Walking Dead Universe’

Ever wonder what went into creating the world of The Walking Dead and its spinoffs, Fear the Walking Dead and The Walking Dead: World Beyond? Wonder no more, as the The Art of AMC’s The Walking Dead Universe from AMC and Skybound provides a unique look behind the scenes at the development of all your favorite characters, gross zombies and much more. And in advance of the book’s release next week, Decider has an exclusive look at some of the pages from the immense, in depth volume.

In the look below, TAoATWDU dives into two different parts of World Beyond, with ramifications for the other series in the universe. The first is a look at the uniforms of the C.R.M., aka the Civic Republic Military, the monolithic, mysterious organization that first plagued The Walking Dead, then Fear the Walking Dead, and is the central engine of the plot behind World Beyond.

In the pages below, you can take a closer look at the uniforms members of the C.R.M. wear, as well as notes on what is distinct about the outfits worn by the security forces in the Campus Colony, initial home of most of the characters on World Beyond:

In the second set of pages, you get a closer look at Walking Dead effects guru and frequent director Greg Nicotero’s sketches for some of World Beyond‘s more disturbing zombies — called “empties” on the series. Though the undead have been ripped apart by barbed wire, true to the name of the franchise they keep on walking; slowly ripping apart bodies be damned. Literally.

There’s a ton more to explore in the book, which will hit direct market stores on November 10, and general bookstores on November 16. You can also snag it in three different editions: the standard release (with cover art by Brian Rood); Skybound Store exclusive (with cover art by David Finch & Dave McCaig); or AMC exclusive (with cover art by Yanick Paquette & Nathan Fairbairn). However you choose to pick it up, though, it’ll be bursting at the seams with more info than that well walker from TWD Season 2.
