‘Stranger Things’ Season 4 Reveals Episode Titles, Summer Premiere

Happy Stranger Things Day! Netflix is spending the whole day celebrating the world of Stranger Things. We’ve already gotten a new California-set teaser trailer and a fun interactive map exploring Hawkins, but the latest reveal might be the greatest. Netflix has revealed the Stranger Things 4 Episode titles. From “The Hellfire Club” to “The Piggyback,” they all sound great! (And geeky, to boot!) Not only that, but we also learned that Stranger Things Season 4 will premiere in Summer 2022!!!

Stranger Things first premiered back in 2016 and became an instant smash hit. The series followed a quartet of middle school friends in Hawkins, Indiana who meet a mysterious girl named Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown) right after their friend Will Byers (Noah Schnapp) disappears. The local sheriff, older teen siblings, and Will’s mom join forces with the kids to fight a mysterious presence called the Mindflayer that was unleashed from a dimension called the Upside Down by the scientists at Hawkins Lab.

It’s been over two years since the last season of Stranger Things. The main core cast of kids are now grown up, Sheriff Hopper (David Harbour) was last seen in a 2020 Super Bowl teaser, and fans are eager for more Stranger Things. So without further ado, let’s get into the episode titles (and possible meanings) for Stranger Things 4….

How Many Episodes Will Be in Stranger Things Season 4?

Thanks to a thrilling title reveal trailer, we now know how many episodes will be in Stranger Things Season 4. There will be nine episodes in Stranger Things Season 4 on Netflix.

(Note: Season 2 of Stranger Things also had nine episodes. Seasons 1 and 3 only had eight.)

Every Stranger Things Season 4 Episode Title and Meaning

Dying to know what all nine episodes in Stranger Things Season 4 are called? Good news! Netflix has revealed the current titles of every episode in Stranger Things Season 4.

Keep in mind that Netflix has done this in the past and changed a title or two between production and the premiere date. So these titles are subject to change.

Stranger Things Season 4 Episode 1: “The Hellfire Club”

This title we already knew! Obviously the Hellfire Club is a nod to a really fun underground club/group of villains from the X-Men comics. (Emma Frost and Sebastian Shaw were both high-ranking members.) But the Hellfire Club in Stranger Things is going to be the name of a Hawkins-based Dungeons & Dragons club the gang gets involved in. We’ve already seen Dustin donning the official t-shirt.

Stranger Things Season 4 Episode 2: “Vecna’s Curse”

Vecna is considered one of the greatest and most powerful villains in the Dungeons & Dragons universe. The title of this episode could be a reference to an actual campaign the characters play, but could also be a nod to the fact that the show has a habit of nicknaming its monsters after D&D villains. (After all, the series opens on the Hawkins kids playing the RPG.)

Stranger Things Season 4 Episode 3: “The Monster and the Superhero”

This title is pretty straightforward. There will be a monster in Stranger Things Season 4. (Wow, you don’t say…) But there will also be a superhero. (Wanna bet her name is Eleven?)

Stranger Things Season 4 Episode 4: “Dear Billy”

Episode 4’s title takes on a somber note. Billy is Max’s (Sadie Sink) deceased brother. He was infected by the Mindflayer in Season 3 and died a sorrowful death. Methinks Max might be missing her sibling?

Stranger Things Season 4 Episode 5: “The Nina Project”

This is our first title that puts us in uncharted territory. Is Nina a person? An organization? An acronym? A monster that spews goo? TELL US!

Stranger Things Season 4 Episode 6: “The Dive”

“The Dive” could mean any number of things. A character (or characters) might have to dive into something, or it could be a play on words. Maybe there’s a dive bar? But it sounds like this is the part of the season where things will heat up…

Stranger Things Season 4 Episode 7: “The Massacre at Hawkins Lab”

Welp. Sounds like there will be (another) bloodbath at the place that started it all — the nexus of all things Stranger Things — Hawkins Lab.

Stranger Things Season 4 Episode 8: “Papa”

We already knew that Matthew Modine’s Dr. Brenner would be returning in some capacity in Stranger Things Season 4, but this confirms that “Papa” will have a key role towards the end of the season. After all, “Papa” is Eleven’s name for her abusive creator. (Then again, it could be a cheeky play on words. Eleven has another presumed dead father figure due to return…)

Stranger Things Season 4 Episode 9: “The Piggyback”

We’re not even going to speculate on this final title as we expect the show will explain it in due course.

Stranger Things 4 premieres on Netflix in Summer 2022.
