‘SNL’ Star Michael Che Isn’t Volunteering to Host “Weekend Update” Co-Anchor Colin Jost’s Baby Anytime Soon

Michael Che isn’t interested in babysitting Colin Jost and Scarlett Johansson‘s son Cosmo anytime soon. During an appearance on The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon, the Saturday Night Live star shared that he recently met his “Weekend Update” co-anchor’s new baby, calling him a “cute kid.”

“Babies are fun for like a second,” Che told Fallon. “You know, they don’t do much after you’ve looked at them, and then they’re just stare at you trying to keep their head on straight. It’s like, ‘Get this wiggly thing away from me.'”

When asked about babysitting Cosmo, the comedian joked that his parents would have to be open to his caregiving style. “I don’t like babysitting,” he admitted. “[But] I’m actually a great babysitter if you guys are interested. I’ve been babysitting my whole life. I have nieces and nephews that are like three years younger than me. I’ve been babysitting them since they were babies. Since I was a baby, actually.”

Che has one rule of thumb: “I just let you cry until you’re sleepy.”

As if co-hosting “Weekend Update” and showing off his babysitting skills weren’t enough, the SNL cast member also has a new Netflix stand-up special called Shame the Devil. Recently, the streamer has made headlines for hosting Dave Chappelle’s controversial new comedy special The Closer, which came under fire for transphobic and homophobic remarks that led to a walkout at Netflix.

When Che appeared on today’s episode of The View, the hosts brought up Netflix’s stand-up controversy. He joked that he had no idea Netflix had a building in the first place, and called Chappelle “a really good friend of mine.”

“It’s okay to not like something. There’s a remote control, change the channel,” he continued. “It’s a weird thing to be mad [at a] comedian… We’re in the feel good business. If you don’t feel good after we’re done, we haven’t done a good job. We’re not coming in with the intention to hurt anyone.”
