Joy Behar’s Comments About Paul Rudd as Sexiest Man Alive Send ‘The View’ Into Hysterics

Today’s hot topics got steamy as The View discussed People Magazine’s Sexiest Man Alive of 2021, Paul Rudd. And not for the reasons you’d expect, either! No, the panelists didn’t put Rudd under the microscope like they did with Oscar Isaac. In fact, thanks to some hilarious comments from Joy Behar that had Whoopi Goldberg in tears laughing, the conversation spiraled completely out of control with an eventual nomination of Dr. Anthony Fauci for the award.

“Apparently, People Magazine has announced their Sexiest Man Alive of 2021. It’s actor Paul Rudd,” Goldberg began. “He says plenty of people are more deserving than him, but adds that he can’t wait to be invited to some of those sexy dinners with Clooney and Pitt and Michael B. Jordan.”

After Sunny Hostin and Sara Haines shared their opinions — agreeing that they were shocked but still support the pick — it was Behar’s turn to state her own. And, as always, the panelist stirred the pot.

“So, here’s the thing with People Magazine,” Behar began.

“Tell us, Joy!” Haines chimed in.

“Wait, before you do it, let me check something,” Goldberg said, turning to the audience. “Good idea?”

According to the audience, it was not a good idea. Still, Behar persisted with some truly bizarre comments about the Sexiest Man Alive.

“All I’m going to say is that this is ridiculous, this thing they do every year, ‘The Sexiest Man Alive,'” Behar began. “It’s a huge exaggeration, it’s very limited to showbiz in this country. What about a hot guy in Belarus or Slovenia? How do we know that this is the sexiest man alive in the whole world? It’s insane.”

While Behar was fully serious regarding her discontents towards The Sexiest Man Alive, the audience erupted in laughter.

“I love that you went literal with that, Joy,” Haines responded. “Literal. That’s like in Elf, with Will Ferrell and the best cup of coffee in New York City.”

“No, no, no,” Behar said. “It’s like that song, that Barry Manilow song, ‘I Write the Songs That Make the Whole World Sing.’ No, you don’t. The whole world does not sing that song, so stop saying it!”

At this point, Goldberg could not contain her laughter, leaning back in her seat in complete hysterics over Behar’s hilarious commentary. Hostin continued to discuss the shrouded selection process of Sexiest Man Alive, the only panelist still serious about the matter.

“To her point, who picks the person?” Hostin asked. “Do they have a panel or something?”

“It’s some girl at People Magazine,” Behar responded.

“Right,” Hostin agreed. “I wanna be on the panel! I have ideas of who should be on this cover.”

Haines agreed, suggesting Idris Elba (who was the Sexiest Man Alive in 2018) should be crowned again. Behar, on the other hand, had some ideas of her own.

“What about Dr. Fauci?” Behar posed, earning a wave of boos from the audience. “Let’s talk about him for a second.”

“Dr. Fauci, I want him to be my lab partner in chemistry, but I’m probably not going to go out with him,” Haines responded.

Goldberg had an amendment: “He’s the sexiest doctor.”

“Not the sexiest doctor,” Hostin, who is married to a surgeon, said with a wink.

“See, now if people start saying, ‘Manny [Hostin] is the sexiest!’ — here she comes,” Goldberg shot back. “‘What are you talking about!?'”

And that was a wrap on the longest Sexiest Man Alive discussion barely mentioning the actual Sexiest Man Alive (if you forgot, it was Paul Rudd, not Fauci or Manny Hostin).
