Where Is ‘Dexter: New Blood’ Filmed?

This November, fans saw the return of everyones favorite serial killer in Dexter: New Blood. The series reboot takes place 10 years after we last saw Dexter Morgan (Michael C. Hall) in the decidedly disappointing series finale of Dexter, which aired back in 2018. The newest installation of the show follows Dexter in his new life as a non-homicidal shopkeeper. When the town he now calls home is threatened by an unknown enemy, he has to decide wether or not he wants to continue down the path of a reformed serial killer, or instead take the plastic wrap out of retirement.

So, what is this town that Dexter has come to care so much for? In the show, it is called Iron Lake, a small community in upstate New York that is just as cold as Dexter himself.

Is Iron Lake a real place? Where was Dexter: New Blood filmed? Here’s everything you need to know.

IS IRON LAKE A REAL PLACE?

Sadly, no. Despite it’s charm, Iron Lake won’t make the short list for your next family vacay due to the fact that it doesn’t actually exist.

WHERE WAS DEXTER: NEW BLOOD FILMED?

Well, Dexter sure isn’t in Miami anymore. The series reboot started filming in February of 2021 and for this season, the production team decided to set the continuation of Dexter’s story in colder climates.

Even though Iron Lake doesn’t exist in name, Dexter: New Blood was shot in a real town with similar allure. Sheburne Falls, a village in Franklin County, Massachusetts, was used to film the majority of the small town shots that fans see in Dexter: New Blood.

In fact, several scenes were shot across a variety of locations in central and western Massachusetts, spanning across Franklin County, Devens, Worcester County and Middlesex County.

A majority of the interior shots fans see in the show were filmed at New England Studios in Devens, Massachusetts. New England Studios has also been utilized to films projects such as Little Women, Slender Man, and Castle Rock.
