Hello all, hope you’re continuing to enjoy your Fall weather in addition to that extra hour of Zs we got to catch thanks to Daylight Savings time going bye-bye! Another thing you’ll be catching this week: a joyous new Woman Crush Wednesday, just for you. This week, we’re celebrating a wonderful woman who has acted in, wrote, and executive produced a number of titles we all know and love. She’s a comedic force to be reckoned with and, in general, just an absolute delight and an overall hard-worker who has consistently churned out terrific content and performances for nearly two decades now. So, without further ado, give it up for this week’s WCW, the captivating Casey Wilson!

WHO’S THAT GAL: Casey Wilson

WHY WE’RE CRUSHING: Wilson plays Bonnie Herschkopf in the upcoming Apple TV+ Original title The Shrink Next Door, which premieres on the platform this Friday, November November 12th. The dark comedy miniseries chronicles the strange relationship between psychiatrist, Dr. Isaac “Ike” Herschkopf (Paul Rudd), and his longtime patient, Martin “Marty” Markowitz (Will Ferrell), as Ike begins implanting himself into Marty’s personal life to the point of exploitation and total dysfunction, culminating in a gripping and explosive piece of must-see TV. Based on the true story chronicled in the podcast of the same name (which ran from 2019 to 2021), The Shrink Next Door also features an all-star cast that includes Wilson as Ike’s wife, Bonnie, Kathryn Hahn as Marty’s sister, Phyllis, and Sarayu Blue as Miriam, a patient of Ike’s.

The series has already been tapped as a title to watch by publications like The Guardian, ColliderThe New York Times and more, so make sure to take their (and our!) word for it by checking out Wilson and the rest of the cast’s incredible work in The Shrink Next Door as soon as it hits Apple TV+ this week.

WHERE YOU’VE SEEN HER BEFORE: Wilson’s professional onscreen career began in 2002 playing a student in an episode of NBC comedy-drama series Ed and then just one year later had her feature film debut with a small role in 2003 drama Virgin. Wilson steadily built up her comedy muscles over the next few years with work in shows like Creature Comforts America and Human Giant, and in movies like 2006 comedy For Your Consideration, 2007 surrealist comedy The Brothers Solomon, and 2008 comedy-drama The Great Buck Howard, culminating in her earning a spot as a cast member on Saturday Night Live from 2008 to 2009. Wilson continued to hone her craft and comedy chops as she acted in shows like The Life & Times of TimBored to Death, and Retired at 35, as well as in films like 2009 romantic-comedy Bride Wars (which she also co-wrote with creative partner June Diane Raphael!), 2009 biographical comedy-drama Julie & Julia, and 2010 action-comedy Killers before earning her first major recurring role in a series in 2011, playing lead Penny Hartz in (the very underrated) ABC sitcom Happy Endings, helping to solidify Wilson as a household name and lift her career to new heights.

From there, the comedy queen built up an impressive list of credits, including work in shows like Burning LoveHow I Met Your MotherDrunk HistoryThe MiddleMarry MeThe HotwivesKroll ShowThe League, One MississippiAmerican Dad!Grey’s AnatomyFresh Off the BoatBlack-ishThe Mindy Project, and Curb Your Enthusiasm, as well as in films like 2012 road comedy The Guilt Trip, 2013 buddy black-comedy Ass Backwards (for which she also wrote and executive produced), 2014 psychological-thriller Gone Girl, 2015 comedy-drama The Meddler, 2016 Christmas comedy Why Him?, 2017 biographical comedy-drama The Disaster Artist, and 2018 road trip comedy The Long Dumb Road.

AND THAT’S NOT ALL (if you can believe it — seriously, when does she sleep?)! In the last few years, Wilson has continued to help put out some top-notch content, including her roles in shows like AtypicalMrs. Fletcher, Archibald’s Next Big ThingBlack Monday, Grace and Frankie, and Solar Opposites, and in films like 2019 romantic-comedy Always Be My Maybe, 2020 comedy Omniboat: A Fast Boat Fantasia, and 2021 romantic-comedy Long Weekend. Clearly, Wilson has made a large and lasting impact on the entertainment industry with all of the amazing work she has done (both in front of and behind the camera) throughout the years, and we are so excited to see the many other accomplishments and successes she will have throughout her career in the years to come.

WHERE YOU’LL SEE HER AGAIN: Luckily, you won’t have to wait too much longer to see more from Wilson. She is set to act in upcoming comedy-drama film Shoot the Rooster, which revolves around a family matriarch (June Squibb) who wants to reunite her family before she passes, and features an all-star cast that includes Henry Winkler, Sam Richardson, Elsie Fisher, Judy Greer, Margo Martindale, Zoe Chao, Billy Magnussen, and more, so be sure to keep an eye out for that in the next few months.
