Kristen Stewart is in line to win Best Actress this year for her turn as Princess Diana in Spencer, but the actress has something entirely different (and equally exciting) in store for her fans. In a profile released by The New Yorker today, the Twilight star revealed she’s taking another dip in the supernatural realm. Yes, that’s right: Stewart’s going to start ghost-hunting. More specifically, she’s laying out the early plans for a gay ghost-hunting reality TV series. Whether this means gay ghost-hunters or ghost-hunters looking for gay ghosts is unclear — both, however, sound equally enticing.
While the synopsis of her new series is kept mostly under wraps, Stewart did give a little bit of a teaser in the interview. She explained that the series is “a paranormal romp in a queer space,” with “elevated aesthetics.” No further details were divulged in the piece, but Stewart did offer up some pitch decks to the writer, meaning she’s got a pretty good idea of what’s to come.
“Gay people love pretty things,” Steward said. “So we are aiming for a richness.”
Stewart is working on the untitled gay ghost-hunting reality TV series with her fiancée, screenwriter Dylan Meyer. The pair began dating in 2019, and Meyer proposed to Stewart this past summer. Now, along with wedding planning, the pair have began this entirely new project.
Meyer’s credits include writing on films like Moxie and XOXO. Stewart, who works mostly as an actress in films, is working on her directorial debut with The Chronology of Water, an adaptation of Lidia Yuknavitch’s memoir. The movie will follow Yuknavitch’s unflinching tale of abuse, addiction, health issues, and more. In her New Yorker profile, Stewart revealed a vision board for the project, which included images of “swimming pools, grim nineteen-seventies living rooms, the grassy bed of the Ichetucknee River, in Florida, a childhood photograph of Yuknavitch and her sister.”
“I want to fuck with a split screen,” Stewart said of The Chronology of Water. “Like, genuinely shredded memories. I want seasons. I want the movie to have scope.”
As of publication time, there was no word about how, exactly, bustin’ makes Stewart feel.
