Hulu + Live TV Plan to Add Disney+ and ESPN+ With $5 Price Hike

Hulu + Live TV subscribers are about to get a whole array of new content — but there’s a cost. Disney is adding two streaming services into a bundle with Hulu + Live TV, meaning customers will now have access to Disney+ and ESPN+, whether they like it or not. This means that the Hulu + Live TV deal will now be raised by $5 per month, too. Just when you thought you were getting Hawkeye for free!

The news was announced to all Hulu + Live TV subscribers today. Beginning on Dec. 21, all customers will include access to Disney+ and ESPN+ with the added news of the $5 price hike. Now, Hulu + Live TV with on-demand ads will be $69.99/month, whereas Hulu + Live TV with no ads will come out to $75.99/month. This change will apply to both new and existing customers.

As long as the email addresses are the same for each account, Hulu + Live TV users who already subscribe to Disney+ and/or ESPN+ should expect to see their accounts rolled into one new plan on Hulu. In addition, customers with multiple subscriptions will receive a credit for the retail value of their existing subscriptions beginning with their first billing cycle on or after Dec. 21.

This news comes only a year after Hulu raised the price of its live-TV package. Back in December 2020, the streamer bumped the price up by $10/month. Further, in October, Hulu raised the price of its on-demand plans by $1 for current and new members, with the ad-supported tier rising from $5.99 to $6.99 per month and Hulu (No Ads) increasing from $11.99 to $12.99.

Hulu + Live TV packages are home to over 75 live TV channels, including local ABC, CBS, Fox and NBC stations virtually all over the U.S., as well as access to Hulu’s plentiful VOD library that houses on-demand movies, TV episodes and original series. Now, Hulu + Live TV users will have access to the many Disney+ originals hitting the streamer — including the upcoming Marvel series Hawkeye and Star Wars show The Book of Boba Fett — as well as ESPN’s linear coverage and more live sports content.
