‘The Morning Show’ Season 2 Ending Explained: Does Everyone Have COVID Now?

The Morning Show Season 2 finale “Fever” premiered on Apple TV+ today, finally bringing the likes of Alex Levy (Jennifer Aniston) and Bradley Jackson (Reese Witherspoon) right into the heart of the COVID-19 pandemic in New York City. Alex not only tests positive for Coronavirus, but she also hosts a riveting live special detailing her condition on the new streaming site UBA+. Meanwhile, Bradley saunters into the heart of an overwhelmed emergency room just to be reunited with her brother.

The Morning Show Season 2 finale was a lot. People declared love, quit their new jobs, and even planted the seeds for the continued rehabilitation of (now dead) Mitch Kessler (Steve Carell). So what does it all mean? And what does The Morning Show Season 2 ending portend for The Morning Show Season 3 on Apple TV+? (More drama, to start with.)

Here is The Morning Show Season 2 ending explained…

The Morning Show Season 2 Ending Explained: Alex Levy Gets COVID-19…And Her Reputation Back?

So, yeah, The Morning Show Season 2 finale gave America’s sweetheart Jennifer Aniston COVID-19. In character as Alex Levy, of course. Moreover, she really goes through it on screen. It’s not pretty, folks. That is, it’s not until Alex’s long-time producer Chip Black (Mark Duplass) convinces her to get camera-ready to livestream her COVID on the new streaming service UBA+.

Dark satire about streaming sites aside, this plot development was kind of brilliantly insane. After having her public reputation eviscerated over weeks, it seems that Alex’s very humble display of COVID fever madness might be charming enough to win back her critics. Expect The Morning Show Season 3 to reveal that Alex has won some kind of Peabody, Cuomo-style, for her COVID briefings only to have a new scandal rear its ugly head…

The Morning Show Season 2 Ending Explained: Does Bradley Jackson Love Cory Ellison? Do They Both Have COVID-19 Now?!?

In a “twist” we could have seen coming all season, Cory Ellison (Billy Crudup) finally declared his love for Bradley Jackson. The thing is she is in a relationship already with Laura Peterson (Julianna Margulies) and he chose to tell her while they are out searching for her brother during a pandemic. Bradley’s phone rings with news that her brother has been found just in time to save her from answering Cory’s declaration.

So does Bradley secretly love Cory, too? Does she need to remind him she has a girlfriend? Or is it something more complicated than that?

My guess — since this is The Morning Show — is that Bradley’s feelings for the executive who controls her professional fate are complicated.

However what I’m really concerned about is where Bradley and Cory end up next. The two basically invade a COVID-covered emergency room to find Bradley’s brother. They’re not wearing masks. They’re not in PPE. They are just in really nicely tailored coats. The last show of Bradley and Cory has them very nervously watching a news broadcast counting how many people have died of COVID-19 while they realize where they are!

So do Bradley and Cory have COVID now? I’m going to guess yes. And even if they don’t, they need to quarantine stat!

The Morning Show Season 2 Ending Loose Ends:

The Morning Show Season 2 teased a couple of storylines and developments that could still pay off in Season 3, including…

  • Paola’s Mitch Kessler Documentary: Paola (Valeria Gollino) feels airing Mitch’s confessional documentary would be a betrayal, but by the end of her meeting with Cory, it seems that she might be convinced to air it. Does this mean The Morning Show Season 3 will redeem the dead Mitch? Will Paola join UBA? Who is hanging out in that big Italian villa now?!?
  • Daniel Henderson’s Big Choice: After warning everyone about COVID-19 and UBA’s institutional racism, Daniel Henderson (Desean Terry) quits so he can safely drive cross-country to be with his elderly loved one. So is Daniel out of The Morning Show? Actor Desean Terry told Decider, “I think there’s probably more for him to do at TMS, but I also feel that there’s…during COVID, I’ve changed. I don’t know about you, but COVID really created some personal reflection and I really do feel I am a better and clearer person because of it. So I think that if Daniel is back at UBA or he finds something else to do at TMS, I think that we will be looking at a man who has basically gotten rid of his shackles. Because he was so determined to make space at The Morning Show so it would be very interesting to see what happens to him; how he evolves.”
  • Bradley and Laura’s Ranch WFH Situation?: While Bradley hints that she is going to hang with Laura on her ranch and work remotely through COVID-19, her little trip to the emergency room might put the kibosh on that. If she does come down with COVID, she might be stuck (with Cory?!?) in New York City, thus putting her romance in jeopardy. Or maybe we’ll learn that she and Laura spent lockdown together. And if they do spend it together…do we think the romance lasts?!

Basically The Morning Show Season 3 can’t come quickly enough!
