Will There Be a Season 3 of ‘The Morning Show’?

Reliving mid-March 2020 doesn’t sound like a dream, exactly, but in the past few episodes of The Morning Show, the drama has been worth it. The Apple TV+ aired its Season 2 finale today, wrapping with a brutal plot twist — Jennifer Aniston‘s Alex Levy has COVID, so the whole network may have been exposed — that feels like a fever dream straight out of last year. Hell, maybe even this one too. If you’re wondering where The Morning Show will go next, we are too.

Season 2 introduced a bevy of new characters like Laura Peterson (Juliana Marguiles), a love interest for Bradley Jackson (Reese Witherspoon), and Paola (Valeria Golino), another love interest, this time for Mitch Kessler (Steve Carell). Most of the show was spent unpacking a new respiratory disease (hint: it’s COVID-19), with a handful of asides about cancel culture, ending careers, and some other good ‘ole media shenanigans. That’s what The Morning Show is all about, after all.

Without further ado, here’s everything you need to know about The Morning Show Season 3.

Will there be a Season 3 of The Morning Show? Has The Morning Show been canceled or renewed?

The Morning Show has been renewed for a third season! On Jan. 10, 2022, Apple TV+ renewed the buzzy drama — with a few twists. Kerry Ehrin has stepped down as showrunner on the project, with Charlotte Stoudt taking her place. The third season will also make a major time jump, per Deadline‘s reporting.

When will Season 3 of The Morning Show come out?

The first season of The Morning Show released in November 2019, and the second came in September 2021. The major gap is because of the global pandemic, clearly, so there (hopefully) wouldn’t be as big of a hiatus for Season 3. So, expect mid-to-late Fall 2022 for Season 3.

What will The Morning Show Season 3 be about?

With the first season focusing on the #MeToo movement and the second tapping into COVID-19, it’s safe to say that The Morning Show will follow whatever current trends are bubbling in pop culture. Who knows what that means?

Kerry Ehrin, an EP on The Morning Show, teased what she’s looking for in a potential third season while chatting with Deadline, teasing that there’ll be a time jump in the upcoming season.

“Well, I definitely want to see more of Bradley and Laura,” she said. “I feel like Alex has come to a place for the first time since the pilot of accepting who she is and facing her worst fears, and I want to see how the phoenix rises from the ashes for her, and learning how to have a full life and be present and loving. I know these don’t sound like big, hooky plot points, but this is how I begin a story: I begin from what I see inside the character and what I want to experience next with them, and I feel like Alex deserves that at this point.”

And as for UBA and the brand new UBA+? “I’m curious where the fate of UBA is going,” Ehrin added. “I love the Cory-Stella relationship. I think they are a great story about sort of the transition of the old world and the new world, and I think they’re both just such rich characters, and I’m excited to see how they develop.”

Who will return for The Morning Show Season 3?

If The Morning Show were to be picked up for a third season, it’s safe to assume most of the key players — Jennifer Aniston, Reese Witherspoon, Billy Crudup, et. al — would come back too. But who knows? Season 2 only brought back some of our favorites (Bel Powley, Mark Duplass) in small doses later in the season, so we may not get everyone in full-force right away.

There’s one big name we probably won’t see in Season 3: Steve Carell. That’s because Mitch was killed off in Season 2 in a car accident. Maybe we’ll see him in flashbacks, but as far as we know, he’s gone for good.
