Jojo Siwa Opens Up About Historic ‘Dancing With the Stars’ Performances on ‘The View’: “I Cried Four Times Today”

Jojo Siwa‘s historic Dancing With the Stars run has come to an end, but the experience isn’t leaving her mind anytime soon. “I have cried four times today because it’s over,” she said during an appearance on today’s episode of The View. “It was the best experience of my life.”

This season, Siwa made history as the first-ever DWTS contestant with a same-sex dance partner (Jenna Johnson). The pair received perfect scores on both of their finale dances, and ultimately placed second behind NBA player Iman Shumpert and his partner Daniella Karagach.

“Getting to be the first-ever same sex couple [on DWTS] meant that we were changing the way the world looked at something normally,” Siwa said on The View. “I think representation is huge, and I think for kids, seeing me love who I love and dance with who I want to dance with makes them feel okay to love who they love.”

The Dance Moms alum — who came out earlier this year — added that her favorite response has been adults telling her, “I wish I had someone like you when I was little.”

“When somebody says [that] to me, it never gets old or goes away or gets any less,” she said. “I think girls are awesome, I think boys are awesome, I think humans are awesome. And I love that kids just embrace anything.”

As The View‘s hosts noted, Siwa has become one of the famous teenagers on the planet, particularly among young girls — Cardi B’s daughter Kulture and moderator Whoopi Goldberg’s great-granddaughter are among her fans.

According to Siwa, her mom raised her to look up to Goldberg in the same way. “One day, my mom was mad at me, and to lighten it up I sent a picture of me watching Sister Act,” she joked. “Brownie points, maybe?”

“You know, we’re casting [Sister Act 3],” Goldberg replied with a smile. “I’m just saying.”

The View airs weekdays at 11/10c on ABC.
