When Will New Episodes of ‘South Park’ Premiere on Paramount+ and Comedy Central?

South Park has officially taken its place as the latest star of the streaming wars. This week marked the premiere of “South Park: Post Covid”, the behemoth’s first special for Paramount+. As fun as it was to see Stan, Kyle, Cartman, and Kenny all grown up, it was an installment that may have left fans with more questions than answers.

Is South Park going to Paramount+? When will new episodes of the series premiere? Are these much-hyped specials part of a new South Park season? When Will the Next South Park Special Be on Paramount+?

We don’t have a specific date, but we do have a month. The second South Park special will premiere on Paramount+ this December.

How Many South Park Specials Will There Be?

Altogether, there will be 14 of these specials exclusive to this streaming service. You read that correctly. South Park’s specials won’t be available on Comedy Central or HBO Max. They’re only coming to Paramount+, so now is the time to subscribe.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Matt Stone noted that they would be making two made-for-TV movies a year. So there’s a chance we can expect a holiday season double whammy for the next seven years.

When Will South Park Season 24 Premiere?

That’s the big question mark surrounding this long-running animated comedy. In August of this year, the series was renewed through Season 30 in 2027. Because of that, we know for a fact that new seasons of South Park are happening.

But do Paramount+’s specials count toward that seven season renewal? That seems unlikely. Ever since South Park premiered its first special in 2020, it’s placed that hourlong episode in a different category than its more traditional seasons. Basically, there are now specials and then there’s normal South Park

So when will the actual show return? The Comedy Central series has had a difficult time figuring out its rapid-fire production schedule in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic. Hopefully, it will sort out its production woes as the world slowly opens up a bit more. But for now, we don’t know when South Park will return. Fingers crossed for 2022.

Will New Episodes of South Park Be on Paramount+ or Comedy Central?

That’s a tricky one. New episodes of the South Park specials, or movies, will only be available on Paramount+. They will not go to Comedy Central or HBO Max. As for new seasons of South Park the series, those will premiere live on Comedy Central. Based on what happened during Season 23, they should also be available to stream the following day on HBO Max.

What’s Going on with South Park and HBO Max?

At the moment, HBO Max has the complete streaming rights to South Park the series. That means it won’t have any of Paramount+’s longer specials. But it will likely have new episodes of South Park the series the day after they premiere on Comedy Central. Yes, this is all very complicated.
