Kevin Hart takes a foray into dramatic territory with his new Netflix series True Story. He stars in the drama as famous stand-up comedian and actor The Kid, whose success is threatened when he enjoys a wild night out with his older brother Carlton (Wesley Snipes) and wakes up to find a dead woman named Daphne (Ash Santos) next to him in bed.

Over the next seven episodes, Kid and Carlton race to solve the mystery of Daphne’s death, only for their relationship to change forever in the face of a shocking final act revelation concerning a woman named Simone. If you’re still wondering who Simone is, anyway, don’t worry — we’ve got you covered.

WHO IS SIMONE IN NETFLIX’S TRUE STORY?

In the True Story finale, Kid discovers that Daphne is actually Carlton’s on-again, off-again girlfriend Simone (also played by Santos), and she’s very much alive. Simone and Carlton collaborated on a scheme to extort money from Kid by tricking him into thinking that he was implicated in Daphne’s death. They also teamed up with a gangster named Ari (Billy Zane), through whom they planned to launder the money. Of course, things don’t go exactly as planned.

HOW DOES TRUE STORY END? TRUE STORY ENDING EXPLAINED:

After finding out the truth, Kid impulsively strangles Ari in a hotel room, before he and Carlton sloppily dispose of the body. The next day, Kid’s attempt to tell Carlton that he knows about his secret scheme is interrupted when they’re attacked by Ari’s brothers, Savvas (Chris Diamantopoulos) and Nikos (John Ales). Kid shoots them both dead, before suddenly turning the gun on his brother.

He manages to stage the scene to make it look as if the gangster brothers killed Carlton, while also pinning Ari’s murder on his late brother. Not the best ending for Simone, but quite a twist ending for Kid!
