Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist fans are getting their Christmas gift early this year. Following its cancellation at NBC after a 25-episode run, the show will, in fact, go on—in the form of a made-for-TV holiday movie.

Penned by series creator Austin Winsberg and helmed by Richard Shepard, who directed the series’ pilot, Zoey’s Extraordinary Christmas will pick up where the show left off. The movie will follow Zoey (Jane Levy) after her father’s passing, as she tries to make a Christmas special for her family like he did. Fans will be glad to know that the film will also wrap up the loose ends of the second season.

The holiday special will arrive to The Roku Channel on Wednesday, December 1. (It also happens to be the first feature-length film to be produced by the platform.)

WHO IS IN THE CAST OF ZOEY’S EXTRAORDINARY CHRISTMAS?

The cast of the original series is set to return: Alongside Levy reprising her lead role, Skylar Astin, Alex Newell, John Clarence Stewart, Andrew Leeds, Alice Lee, Michael Thomas Grant, Kapil Talwalkar, David St. Louis, Mary Steenburgen, Peter Gallagher, and Bernadette Peters are set to appear in the follow-up film.

WILL ZOEY’S EXTRAORDINARY PLAYLIST BE RENEWED FOR A THIRD SEASON?

Currently, there hasn’t been any official announcements of Roku picking up the series for a third season, so its future is unclear on that front. However, there reportedly has been some talk regarding more episodes of Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist being ordered, should the holiday movie do well enough. Regardless, the movie will serve as a solid conclusion to the story, should it end there.
