William Shatner’s Historic Space Flight To Be Documented In Prime Video Special ‘Shatner In Space’

William Shatner went to space aboard Jeff Bezos‘ rocket in October, and soon, and you can check out a behind-the-scenes look at the Star Trek star’s journey. On Wednesday, December 15, the one-hour special Shatner in Space will premiere on Prime Video.

The actor confirmed the news during a virtual panel for the fan convention CCXP Worlds last Sunday (per Deadline). Shatner in Space will focus on the events leading up to, during, and after Shatner’s historic October 13 flight on Blue Origin’s New Shephard NS-18. During the trip, the 90-year-old became the oldest person to ever travel to space.

“My time in space was the most profound experience I could have ever imagined,” Shatner said in a statement. “This special documenting my journey gives a dramatic view of that experience, and my hope is that it inspires the world to see we must go to space to save Earth.”

Shatner is best-known for playing Captain Kirk in the iconic sci-fi show Star Trek, in which the crew of the starship USS Enterprise explore space and “boldly go where no man has ever gone before.”

“I’ve heard about space for a long time,” he said in a press release announcing the flight. “I’m taking the opportunity to see it for myself. What a miracle.”

Shatner in Space is produced by Amazon Studios, Blue Origin, Film 45, Jason Ehrlich Productions, and Bright Spot Content.

You can check out the special for yourself when Shatner in Space launches Wednesday, December 15, on Prime Video.
