Florence Pugh Says Instagram Blocked Her From Posting ‘Hawkeye’ Spoilers After MCU Fans Complained: “Beyond Ridiculous”

Warning: Hawkeye Episode 4 spoilers follow.

Sorry, Marvel fans — it looks like you’ll be seeing a little less Yelena Belova on your Instagram feed. On Wednesday, Florence Pugh claimed that the app has blocked her from posting about her Black Widow character’s recent appearance on Disney+‘s Hawkeye. Earlier that day, the actress shared a few photos of herself from the show’s most recent episode, prompting spoiler complaints from some fans.

“I never thought me posting love about a show in which I appear on would get taken down..but here we are,” Pugh wrote on her Instagram Story. “Someone on here complained so I’ve been blocked from posting my own appearance on a show that I’m very much in. Beyond ridiculous.”

She continued: “Being in Hawkeye is a privilege and thank you to all who welcomed me on set and off and all who are watching.”

Pugh’s post about her Hawkeye debut has remained up on the site, and she still seems to be able to post to her Instagram Story.

Meanwhile, in a recent interview with Variety, Hawkeye producer Jonathan Igla explained how he convinced Marvel to let Yelena and Hawkeye protagonist Clint Barton’s (Jeremy Renner) paths collide on Disney+. In a Black Widow post-credits scene, Pugh’s character is ordered to kill Clint, who she blames for the death of her sister, Natasha Romanoff (Scarlett Johansson).

“[That scene] came in response to [us] begging for and making a good case for why Yelena had a place in our story,” Igla said. “I think what I can safely say about it right now is that there is an obvious connection between Clint’s guilt over the loss of his best friend and the other person in the world who cared the most about her.”

New episodes of Hawkeye air Wednesdays on Disney+.
