‘The View’ Hosts Praise Hillary Clinton For Sharing Would-Be Victory Speech: “This Is About Resilience”

During her recent MasterClass, Hillary Clinton publicly shared her would-be 2016 presidential election victory speech for the first time. And on today’s episode of The View, the ABC talk show’s hosts applauded her perseverance.

“This is about resilience,” moderator Whoopi Goldberg said. “If you ever think you can’t get over something, watch this. Because this tells you how to do it, and who you have to be, and how you find the kahunas to get back up again.”

Guest host Ana Navarro called the speech “historical,” adding that she hopes the speech will be included in history books. “There will be a woman president, and that first woman president is going to be standing on the shoulders of Hillary Clinton,” she said.

But for other hosts, like Joy Behar and Sunny Hostin, the speech also reminded them of what could’ve happened had Donald Trump never become president.

“It took me back to the twice-impeached, disgraced former president’s speech,” Hostin said. “It was like the apocalypse. It was carnage. It was disingenuous.”

Behar pointed out that Clinton actually won the popular vote by around 3 million votes. “To think of where this country could be now if she had won, and not that snake oil salesman… it makes me sick,” she said. “I’m angry with the Supreme Court, I’m angry with Trumpers, I’m angry with anti-vaxxers, I’m furious with everyone. Merry Christmas!”

The View airs weekdays at 11/10c on ABC.
