If you’re looking for an acclaimed coming-of-age documentary, Try Harder! could be right up your alley. Debbie Lum’s new movie follows five gifted students at a prestigious, largely Asian American San Francisco high school as they undergo the rigorous college application process. Along the way, Lim interrogates what the process reveals about the intersections of American race, class, and education, while maintaining plenty of heart along the way.

If you’re interested in checking out the film for yourself, here’s what you need to know about where to watch Try Harder!, and when you can expect to see Try Harder! on streaming.

WHERE TO WATCH TRY HARDER!:

Try Harder! premiered in theaters on December 3, 2021. If you want to catch the documentary in theaters, you can find tickets at a theater near you here.

If you’d rather check it out at home, you may have to wait a bit. Try Harder! is available for pre-order on platforms like iTunes for $14.99, to be released on December 24. However, there is no announced rental date yet for Amazon Prime, Google Play, iTunes, YouTube, and more — though we do expect it will pop up there eventually, most likely some time in 2022.

WILL TRY HARDER! BE ON HBO MAX?

Nope. Try Harder! is a Greenwich Entertainment movie, not a Warner Bros. movie, and therefore is not streaming on HBO Max at the time of its theatrical release. There’s a chance that the film may get added to the service at some point down the road, but not right now.

IS TRY HARDER! ON NETFLIX?

No, sorry. Try Harder! is not on Netflix, and likely will not be on Netflix any time soon.
